Today we had some pretty bad ice/wintry mix that had started late last night. I got up this morning for work not sure whether or not my school district would cancel school. Usually, they drag their feet and wait until the last minute to decide. Imagine my shock when they had made a decision before 6 am.
School was cancelled today and all were happy. We have few snow plows here, so when the roads get bad we are out of luck. Plus, people here in Texas are famous for not knowing how to drive in snow/ice or rain. For some reason, people think they should go faster instead of slower. ![]() Anyway, my point in posting this was that it reminded me of the days when I worked at the christian school and they would ask so much of us - wanting us to be there all the time, even when the weather was bad they would expect us to have a service or prayer meeting or something. I'm glad I can see how ridiculous that type of thinking is now, even though I had a hard time seeing it back then. Tonight, hubby and I were watching news when the announcement was made that my school district superintendent was not going to decide whether or not to cancel for tomorrow until morning. I'm sure parents were in an uproar and let him know it because the ice/sleet has gotten much worse today than it was this morning. I laughed after checking our school website about 45 minutes later when it it said school would be closed tomorrow for sure. I guess some parents had their say. :P So, I will be tucked away in my warm home tonight and tomorrow enjoying another day off.
