Need some advice

I need some advice concerning choosing a right church that is clear on doctrine and does not abuse its flock. Since Ive been reading things about the sheparding/discipling movement, it has got me on alert. Many people's relationships, marriages, and lives have been destroyed by this. Even scarier, is a resurgence of this doctrine in most of today's churches, specifically pentacostal ones. How do I avoid getting sucked into the new movement? I guess research will help greatly and are there any sites/books which refute this doctrine and have Scriptures to back it up? Also, which denomination/s keep themselves free of this and are doctrinally sound? How do I find the right church?
