Default The Deception

While posting to Elle,,,,an interesting newance of abuse came to mind.I define God as a "Totaly incaporial force of intellect capable of calling an entire universe into existance by the sheer force of His Will".The abuse we suffered, somehow convinced us that God does not understand our shortcomings. The absolute absurdity of that idea is astounding!!!!!! The abuse forces us to a place where we eleivate ourselves so far above God that we dare embrace the idea that He is somehow incapable understanding us,,,,,,,,,,,Arrogance Personified!!!!!!!
Father forgive me,,,,,,,,Jerry

Hey Jerry - thanks for the guilt (just kidding). Tonight a real cool thing happened - I was putting my 7 year old to bed, and he has apparently been reading the book of Proverbs. I usually read them a bedtime story, but he wanted to read the next chapter of Proverbs. Maybe this will be a start to breaking the cycle... out of the mouths of babes! Elle

No, I don't usually post over here. I was browsing and this caught my attention.

The abuse forces us to a place where we elevate ourselves - so far above God! - that we dare embrace the idea that He is somehow **incapable** of understanding us. This in direct contradiction of the doctrine of Jesus our High Priest who suffered even as we but without sin... and we reach a "logical" conclusion with our broken hearts and not with our minds.

I had never thought of this as arrogant before. You're right - it is. But then again "false humility" is also pride, and those who tear themselves down so pitilessly don't see it as a pride problem either...

Will think more on this...

Sharon

Hi Sharon and it might be what the psych's call "over inflated/under inflated" ego ... where we feel so LOW that we have to fake-elevate ourselves very HIGH to feel equal to everyone around us.

Which of course doesn't work and then what do we do? Ah, we pretend like nothing ever happened! .. which only makes matters a whole lot worse....

Being mortal is not for the faint of heart.
