I see we're here "together" again! Hope you've managed to get some sleep at least! (Does your back pain make it difficult to sleep? I can imagine that might be so and I do send you my condolences.)
In any case--I've recently rediscovered a fairly helpful link from a local church website and thought you (and others?) might be interested. This is a commentary and quote on the lectionary readings of the day. Specifically, this is the last Sunday of the church year in liturgical churches---also known as "Christ the King" Sunday. (Can't believe that NEXT Sunday is the first Sunday in Advent! Where DID the year go???!?) In any case, if interested, here's that link and the beginning comment: November 20, 2005 Proper 29 — A Christ the King http://www.preparingforsunday.com/Le...dayreadings%2F Book of Common Prayer Lectionary Ezekiel 34:11-17 Psalm 95:1-7 1 Corinthians 15:20-28 Matthew 25:31-46 Revised Common Lectionary Ezekiel 34:11-16, 20-24 Psalm 95:1-7 Ephesians 1:15-23 Matthew 25:31-46 Reflection and Response Prayer Starter Today’s readings celebrate Christ, our compassionate King. Ezekiel pictures God as our Shepherd, who rescues and watches over us. In both his letter to the Corinthians (BCP) and his letter to the Ephesians (RCL), Paul pictures Christ reigning triumphantly over creation, over his enemies, over the Church and even over death. Jesus presents a vision of final judgement, in which the Son of Man welcomes into God’s kingdom those who have treated others with compassion and mercy. Grace and peace to you and yours this day---and all here! As always, "more as able!" Not really sure WHAT today will bring, though my husband and I do plan to get out to church this a.m. and hope to go to an organ recital by the director/organist of "our" E. church in the afternoon. I HOPE...!!! It's HARD to be "out of synch" with the world...and I've again not slept much. ("Bother," said Pooh!!!") Siiiiiiiiiiigh! Yours in Christ-- Theodora

Quote:
... but it was certainly an "interesting" day. I had hoped to go to an early Eucharist first, but was too tired to do that...SO, after going back to bed for a bit, my husband and I then went on to "our" M. church. (VERY complicated saga of our journey through the churches which I'll spare you for now!) FWIW...we continue to find much "community" there, but my problem is that it doesn't meet my hunger for more traditional liturgy. In any case, then in the afternoon, we did get to the organ recital at "our" E. church....and that was WONDERFUL...but also very tiring. THEN..home again, had a bite to eat and then back out again to the M. church where the monthly support group for military families was meeting. Since I hadn't been able to go to that for some time, I made an effort to go. (I'm glad I did, but then I was REALLY, REALLY tired when I got home!)So...that brings me to "today"---and I'm again up early, fighting the insomnia problem--but using the time to continue to work "at"/"toward" some of the tasks on the long "to-do" list in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday. (And yes...Kerrin...if you happen to be reading this...I AM also trying to take care of myself and I do have another acupuncture session scheduled for tomorrow...which SOMETIMES helps with working on the "balance" we're after.) ANYWAY... Again..."More as able"---and thanks for "listening." Hope you had a good weekend and that you're doing OK otherwise. Haven't seen many of your posts of late, so was especially appreciative of your taking the time to respond to my post. Blessings and love-- Theodora -- |
