Default well, he did it

*deep sigh*

My husband's job has NOT been the greatest lately... including scheduling problems, personality conflicts, and lots and lots and lots of added duties with no increase in pay (partly because the client simply doesn't want to fork over more money to the guard company he works for). Most recently, they lost the fellow who was covering most third shifts - and hired somebody who routinely cannot start third shift until almost 1 am because he's coming from his day job. Which means that anyone stuck on second is stuck until he gets there. Friday, they asked my husband to come in early - 1 pm - which meant he did twelve hours covering two shift changes (first out/second in and second out/third in) including the transfer of truck traffic to his side when the other gate closes at 5 pm.

He had a bad day.

This on top of all of us with the 2005 creeping crud, and him already missing work and seeing the doctor for it. The doctor was also suffering from the 2005 creeping crud.

So..... he had already had some words with the supervisor (NOT her fault) and the account manager (partly his fault) over the current situation, and he had said he wasn't sure if he was willing to stay unless things changed.

Then his supervisor called this afternoon, wanting him to do Monday second. As in "no clue if or when you will be relieved because they aren't sure whether the relief will show up by 1 am" second. She called him because the person originally scheduled plain refused to do it.

So he quit.

Whether or not they sweet talk him back come Monday will depend on whether they are willing to make some serious changes with the way things are handled. I have my doubts about this.

SO....... with my own supervisor back and my hours limited to the normal 40...... it won't take long before we get in deep doodoo around here. And I'm not talking about Andrew either.... Andrew's oppositional thing lately deserves a whole separate post... and if tomorrow is bad.... I will.

*sigh* Time to check email and try to get some sleep. I can't really go to bed because it's impossible to sleep with the light off, and it's getting to where it actually hurts to lie down and stare at the ceiling, awake, for hours. And he won't consider leaving the light on so I can get some rest. *shrug* Not welcome in my own bed. Not surprising. Maybe I'll read a book...
