Does anyone else here watch and enjoy Joan of Arcadia? I dont' watch a lot of TV, but this one show grabs my attention and pulls me away from the computer like no other. There's a lot of tragedy in the show, but I like the way it's dealt with. I also like the simplistic way they portray God.

...I have liked about this show. I too don't watch a lot of TV, but this is a show which I have watched occasionally and liked as well. I'm not sure whether "simplistic" is the term for their portrayal of God, but more a kind of "mind-stretching" idea that God can "speak"---in this case literally!---in unexpected ways and in unexpected times.
I've not followed this well enough to get a sense of how well Joan always receives her "instructions"---nor whether others are aware of her special missions---and how well THEY respond to that idea. ??? That might be a sort of secondary theme that might be interesting to discuss. What have been your observations, if any?
I am reminded of having seen what was, for my husband and myself, a delightful movie called "The Angel Levine"---I THINK!---which had a Jewish angel trying to help a gentile, as I remember this---in human form. Our Roman Catholic friend couldn't take this kind of "thinking outside the box" and stormed out of the theater, telling us afterwards: "Angels just aren't LIKE that!!!" ??? HOW DOES ONE "KNOW???" :D
Glad you've found something which is not only entertaining but also inspirational.
Grace and peace to you and yours this day--
Theodora

Dear Theodora,,,
To expand a little,,,,,,,an "Angel" is by defination nothing more than a messenger,,,,,,,a fellow servant of God...If God chooses to send one a message in this way,,,,it is the message that is important. It is my opinion that the messenger will take whatever form will be most effective in accomplishing the mission...If the message recipiant expects an angel to be an apperishion with gossimer wings,,,,then that is the form the angel will take...Is that what an angel looks like ???????? Well yes I suppose if that is what it takes to make the recipiant accept the message. It is the message that is the point ,,,, not the form the Angel must take to accomplish delivery ;)

Hi Theo,
Joan is a typical teenager. The messages come through people that are in all shapes and sizes, but Joan always seems to figure out that the person is "God". Most of the time she follows the command grudgingly and learns a great lesson about life through it. Thanks for corresponding with me on the show. :)
