Dear online community! I am sure you all know that laughter his healthy. Some say that laughing is more important than daily exercise. :)
All the "bad things" I know about my church I owe to the internet, more precisely to factnet and not to my leader (who never stepped down to a peer level to explain things to me). The factnet forum was frequented by people who left but also by those who remained in the church as "free agents". The "free agents" kept those that had already left updated.
This is probably the most funny comment I read from a volunteer "news anchor", sharing the latest news on factnet with ex-members:
I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the rest.
SUNDAY SUNDAY! Under the lights at FACTnet Motorspeedway! You'll pay for the whole seat, but you'll only need the edge, edge, edge!!!!!
Also I came up with this rhyme:
It was like a zoo - but I liked it too !
Or with this spoonerism:
abuser of the brethren (instead of accuser of the brethren)
Looking forward to your input
cheers
Gerald

You definitely have to have a sense of humour in this line of work. Humour reigns supreme on the forum.

"It was like a zoo, but I liked it too."
Pretty much sums it up for me... at the beginning anyway. I guess that was before the accuser took the microphone... and the abuser had his way.

I never thought that "my" church was abusive until I hear the words: "Does it walk like a duck, talk like a duck, eat like a duck, shit like a duck" it is a duck." It seemed like abuse, felt like abuse, and smelled like abuse.... and I think it was. I do not if this was so funny, but I kind of see the irnoy in that. We do not often want to belive what is right in front of our eyes.Love Minni

That was quite an original translation of the duck metaphor! The irony is definitely not lost on me... :)

I remember the same analogy when I got out of my groups. Now that is a small world.

Also as an afterthought, how about "We Won't Get Fooled Again" by the Who?

Yes I know, my English can be a little....weird....since it is a foreign language for me, I mess up a bit, so please forgive me if I do or say or spell somethings that might not be the best way to say it... :D Love Minni

Oh, well that is a different story. The fact that you are posting in English speaks volumes of how well you want to get better. I promise to be more forgiving. Kudos for your efforts. I am impressed.

If you've got the time and haven't seen this skit so far, please take a few minutes to do so. It is about Mr bean learning Judo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8xMbgxML_c). You'll get a healthy laugh out of it, guaranteed.
In this skit Mr Bean is a picture of a church member interacting with an abusive leader. First he is instructed to be humble (to bow down) and then he gets thrown unto the mattress. Eventually the member is outsmarting the leader and walks away. :)
Unfortunately many members in our church were not smart enough. I remember how we were taught from the beginning not to attract undue attention to ourselves, until the leader got all the attention and it was too late. I would have to develop my own skit to illustrate this: in this skit Mr Bean would be the Judo teacher in a gym filled with students. He makes everybody bow down unwary what is happening next. Then he is walking through the rows kicking the butt of each student which causes them to tumble to the floor. At the end Mr Bean (= the leader in this analogy) is the only one that is still standing on his feet. :D

I was kind of curious if the term "two faced" has already been coined by somebody and stumbled across this article:
TRUE FACED OR TWO FACED (http://www.ntm.org/jon_button/3986)
The article describes the dynamics of a pharisaic lifestyle. If it is not dealt with in a leader's life, it will eventually turn into an avalanche of deception and SA.
Actually I was reading the book "true faced" and it is recommendable.
