It is nearing Christmas and I can hardly wait to get on the plane and see all those expectant faces of my children and grandchildren.

I admit freely, I have overdone it! Our suitcases will be so filled with goodies that clothes just may become optional if weight becomes a concern.

BUT........... I also did a little shopping on the Internet . :o My daughter tells me that our room is filled with boxes that are threatening to topple over.

Anyway, life is a bit more complicated this year. I would very much like to ask for prayer. Several months ago Steinar suddenly developed a swollen knee. After 2 weeks we had to go to the hospital where they drew off fluid and did DNA testing on it. 6+ weeks later we got the results and an invitation to return to the hospital for him to become part of a research study. What showed up in the knee was evidence that a tick bite he received 8 years ago was no simple event. He had been developing a chronic systemic inflammation all these years that finally surfaced in his knee. He was placed on an extremely powerful dose of antibiotic which he needs to take for 3+ weeks. He is presently not doing well at all. He feels like he has the flu and he looks like something the cat drug in. We were back to the doctors yesterday and he is now on sick leave until the middle of January. It is hoped that by 2 weeks after the completion of the antibiotic he will be feeling better, if not, there needs to be further investigations done.

So I ask you my friends for prayer. The trip in 10 days will be arduous for him and I can only hope he will begin to feel better during our time away so he can enjoy the kids.

If anyone cares... I had to buy a new stove, so we went to the store the other day. The bad news was that the one I wanted is going out of production. The good news is that they found the last one available in Scandinavia in Sweden and had it shipped over. Went to see it today and it is perfect - and 4000 Norwegian kroner cheaper because it is the last one! It comes home tomorrow.

Now this may not sound like a big deal to you BUT... since nothing in my life ever seems simple and there is usually a "catch" - you guessed it... A CATCH! It is something called "Induction cooking" which I never heard of but which our friend who is a chef told me I HAD to get because it is all he will cook on. What he did NOT tell me was that we now have to buy all new pots!!! Ask me if that made our day?!?! I was the proud owner of a $1700 stove with no pot to cook in! (Yes things are much more expensive here...) (Do you know what pots cost?)

We bought one pot at the store and discovered our iron frying pan is usable. I went on-line ASAP and found a set of suitable pots on sale at a department store in Lancaster. My son has arranged to pick them up. NOW I have to tote them home - the viking is not happy with me!

You would think I would be smart enough not to irritate a sick man! Merry Christmas :D:D:D
