Just had to share something from the "Fact is stranger than fiction" department.
A little over a year ago, my daughter changed schools, and almost immediately became best friends with a girl in her class(I'll call her Candy). Before long, to assist with transportation issues, Candy was at our home every school day, both before & after school. She's joined us for vacation, and she's spent time with my extended family on holidays.
Between Christmas & New Year, my daughter's friend's mom (Lois) had trouble in her relationship with Candy's dad, and they needed a place to live. Therefore, when room became available in our home, we took them in.
Now - bizarre fact #1 is that Candy's dad grew up in the same neighborhood as my husband, and Candy & Lois know some of his brothers pretty well.
Bizarre fact #2 is something that we discovered just last night. Lois is my second cousin. My dad is her mother's 1st cousin, my grandmother and hers were sisters, and our great-grandparents are the same people. It is likely that at some point in our lives we attended some of the same family reunions, funerals, weddings, or holidays.
Last week, I thought I was taking in a stranger, and she turns out to be FAMILY!
How weird is that?
