I can certainly understand the cynicism of many of us on the forum and the media in general. I read the link and the links to evangelist scandals. Not exactly my idea of good bedtime reading.

No problem. I found the subsequent research, after I made the suggestion, quite helpful. Glad you brought up the topic.

Defensive explanations of the mystery of her disappearance remind me of the story of the emperors new clothes. IMHO she was what she was - an actress who found an outlet for using her talents... The story does sound more like a Hollywood icon than a religious founder... complete with multiple marriages and the assignation that spelled the end of her career. In defense of her though, she did give some seed money to missionaries who went out used it wisely.

Anyone been to Angelus temple?

I've been to Angelus Temple and the Dream Center for a week long mission trip.

They do some awesome stuff there.

But on the questionable side (to me anyway) they have a museum at Angelus Temple or shrine I guess you could call it of walkers and canes and wheelchairs and such of people that "she" healed.

I always get my guard up when people start saying "so and so" healed them. Its like, if they can't give Jesus the glory, I'm not interested in what you have to say.

Her whole story is a big joke to me. It disturbs me.

Anyway, these days, the Dream Center there in LA is doing some amazing ministry to be sure. Its an awesome experience.

But as I said before, I still don't agree with them doctrinally though I respect and admire their current ministry efforts.
