I subscribe to dictionary.com so I receive a new word and definition daily.

Today I just LOVED the word and can see how it could be used to describe (in an intellectually and impolite way) to our abusers and the world what we would like to see happen to them (their theology and behavior certainly not to them! ;)) .

defenestrate \dee-FEN-uh-strayt\, transitive verb:
To throw out of a window.

Now I am NOT recommending on which floor one could be located when defenestrating...

Example, "Thank you for your input; I am evaluating whether or not to defenestrate your theological interpretations and your preferred way of communicating and living them out practical ways."

Doesn't that sound great? What a wonderful means of passive aggression. They would not know if they had been complimented or insulted until you were gone and they had found a dictionary. Given the ego of most abusers they would NEVER admit they had no idea what the word meant.

Love it Anna expecially where you wrote, "They would not know if they had been complimented or insulted.....

How about if we told our abusers, "Of all the people I know, you are my 2nd most favourite person. All the rest are #1." :D

I like that Reg. :D:D:D:D:D:D

I bet there are lots of great ideas for how we can mess with their egos in the nicest kind of ways.

Hi Anna Marta,
I love the definition of words. After a number of years of dealing with these manipulators, I realized that their strength was in deception and not the the truth. What I started doing was making them put all their cards on the table and explain exactly what they meant. In a sense of irony, I was defenestration my abusers by making them to explain themselves.

I need to do an aside here - I probably created an new word.:D

The the point is that when these idiots attempted to employ their manipulative techniques, I would not mindlessly except their assumption, but make them fully and completely explain their position. It is amazing what happening when you do not allow these people to go unchallenged in their Orwellian double-speak, they will absolutely collapse. They may not go down passively, but they will go down to their own destruction.

Anna Marta, the passive-aggressive behavior does need to get removed. We as Christians need to speak the truth in love and not allow any element of the passive aggressive double speak of those who pervert the Christian faith. Well, I need to get some sleep, but is it a good toplc of defining words.

Gotcha Doug, it is my sick sense of humor showing again.

I don't know if Anna Marta's passive-aggression is so bad. I admit when I read her first post on this thread I was kind of surprised but the feelings sure sounded familiar. I'd like to throw a few people out a window too.

We are all angry and bitter or we wouldn't even be reading this weird forum. I guess I just let Anna Marta feel her pain because that's how I learned to lessen my own pain. But, yeah, at some point we gotta let it go for our own sakes and for those who truly love us.

"Speak the truth in love" yeah right. That's just a good goal in my mind right now.

Being polite or not. I am up for any time I can throw a big word around that few people know the meaning to. Keeps my nerdy image up :D

I was kidding :( About throwing "someone" out a window.

But, I was serious about throwing big words around designed to confuse a bully and abuser... good clean fun

Here's another new word:
renascent \rih-NAS-uhnt\, adjective:
Springing or rising again into being; showing renewed vigor.

Anyone got a sentence for this one?

I hope Tammy never finds this post. She loves to play with the dictionary. I get emails like this from her all the time.

Actually anyone remember the BBC series My Word? There is also a word game radio from Public Radio in states. I sometimes catch it coming home from church. Of course I could really date myself with Password. :D

Yes, I do. It was required in rural Kansas. One could not take a bath or do laundry without it. To add insult to injury I have a friend who can recite the Mr Bubble commercial verbatim.

One of the "interesting parts" of living in a culture in which I did not grow up is seeing the blank look  on my husband's face when I come out with some old commercial jingle.

Last night our neighbor dropped in to tell us he wanted to surprise his wife and take her on a business trip with him to Italy. I burst out into song "Take me along if you love'a me.." and got 2 blank looks!:confused: M:confused: They now just chalk it up to my being a "nutty American!"

refresh my memory. What the jingle for?

Anna Marta

the jingle was for an airline... I forget which one - United??? It had to do with trying to get businessmen to take their wives along on business trips.

It was in the same era as "My name is ____ fly me."

That was back when we didn't put sexual connotations on such phrases.
