My wife received an email from the church we left in Texas. The associate pastor is leaving for missions work. I am not of the black helicopter conspiracy school, but the news does give me pause.
The associate pastor comes from a biblical expository teaching background. The church was Saddleback/Willowcreek style. I remember reading his blog about the conflicts two years ago. The church tried to shut down his Saturday evening bible study. The outcry was so deafening that the church backed down fearing an exodus of members.
The other thing is the church is no longer affiliated with the group that Tammy was in. I have checked the register of the original group and found the church delisted. I have a feeling the church did not want to get with the programme, so out they went. It makes sense. The senior pastor who started out in the virulent years of the movement has distanced himself from the shepherding leanings. He was able to find good in the movement and build from there.
