Has anyone been successful in taking legal action re spiritual abuse? I really don't want these people to get away with what they did to me, so they can keep on doing it to others. Is there anything I can do legally to make them take responsibility?

Bereft,

the thought has crossed my mind more than once about suing our abuser.....

I think it has been done successfully, of course each situation is obviously unique.

My advice to you, check out any information you can glean from the internet. CD Host had a sight about "church" issues & has some court cases on the site to check out.
That might be helpful.
All of the BEST!!!

Thanks, Free in Jesus. This is going to sound stupid, but what is CD Host? Will definitely check it out. Thanks. Been told it's not safe to talk too much about this on the forum so won't say much else.

Dear Bereft,

No, you didn't sound stupid at all, I should have made it more clear. :o:) CD Host is a guy who has a website about church discipline, which is not a pleasant subject & I don't even think I believe or agree w/ it. However....on his website, (I haven't been there in a while) but there are cases of situations about churches & people. I do recall there was an actual court case posted that the lady had sued a church & it explained some legal issues, but it's been a while & things may have changed over there.

You can find the link to it by searching through the archives here for the "Church Discipline" thread,(it was during the month of April 2008) the thread was closed (locked) because it was very heated......not a pleasant topic as we all have been so damaged by pastors & churches who were out of control with their power. In CD-Hosts first post is the link for his website.

I'm not saying you can trust everything on that site, but you may find some information that would help you.

Good luck & you can PM me & let me know how it's going.
God bless!!
