I am thinking that she must have applied for a state job where i live........they take that long and sometimes longer....
:p

I had to go through 3 interviews for a social service position....let's see I put my application in on christmas eve that year.....interviewed in Feb....had to return in March for an interview in front of a panel of affirmative actions officers......and started in April; no lie.

thats state government for ya!

are you joining me in my work spinning head????

OH god I need to get the those beaches in RI; I am SICK of the cold today....my daughter is running around the house in a bathing suit asking me if summer is coming.

What? What, Jane??? Returning three months after putting in a job application for an interview before a panel of affirmative actions officers?

But... why? So they could see if you really were of a certain race? Or ask you what your attitude would be if confronted with particular "situations?" The Thought Police in CT need to be kept occupied and off of entertainment web sites, I guess...

I see a trend here lately: we're talking a lot about work situations. Ridiculous ones at that.

I made the observation in another thread awhile back that "the modern-day church is like the world gone bad." Okay: now the world, at least the work world, has gone bad. But it's not as though most of us can simply bow out of the latter, as we did with the churches. (Well, I've been tossed out of four churches since mid-2000, so some of us do manage to engage and tangle with self-appointed bouncers in churches... :D This is not necessarily to our detriment, however, and should not be seen as all bad.)

I've worked on racial discrimination cases and the idea of your having to be interviewed by a panel of affirmative action officers appalls me, Jane... Yikes.

P. S. How's wee Sam these days, plus your other sweeties, besides the cabin fever????

Hi...I'm so glad my predictament can amuse someone!! :p

There's a lot of competition right now in RI...the state is cutting 1.5 Million in state $$ by June (including lots of jobs!) and so I'm finding many companies are definitely taking full advantage of interviewing everyone and their brothers. The previous position I applied for told me they received HUNDREDS of applications.

Plus I started applying for jobs in December...which they told me that month they were collecting resumes, January begin interviewing...who knows.??

Frustrating...meanwhile, beans & rice! I'm trying not to get discouraged. This latest position I would be *perfect* for and I'm praying it is in God's will for them to see that as well.

I sure hope you get that job SH. Meantime... maybe you should consider jobs out of the area? I've had to move for employment and it was well worth it!

Praying for ya SH - hard to figure some things...

Meantime, just to share the frustration, my oldest daughter is applying to the school district to be a recess monitor. Over the past 2-3 months, she's had to have a criminal background check at her own expense, a tuberculosis test, and be fingerprinted. She is STILL in the application process.

I think it's enough that she has 5 children of her own who are all alive!

I understand the importance of hiring safe people to take care of children in public school - but this seems extreme. I also suspect a real predator would be able to beat the system. Meantime honest people chase their tails for part-time minimum wage jobs.
