The recent problems in the forum,in my opinion, point once again to a forum difficulty......How to address Scripture issues without flaming the board....I suggest a strictly moderated forum titled "Scripture Questions".....1 a Scripture Question is posted,,,,,,,,,,,,,,2 Responders then post their response to the Question only,,,,,,Responses to "Responses" are not allowed. These are only opinions. While some of us are pretty well studied,we are NOT Theologians and should not over represent our qualifications.....Some responses may be 180 degrees out from others in the same thread,,,,,all the better since the intent is to widen the perspective of the questioner,,,,,,NOT to influence what anyone chooses to believe......We are not about defending God,,,,,we are about recovery from abuse....I think this could work very well if we choose to have faith in each others good will and good intentions.....Since the "Testing" forum is little used,,,,perhaps Admin would convert it to this purpose. WHAT DO YOU THINK ??????

I think it's a great way to learn and share non-judgmentally. I read about a Jewish study group that does exactly that. Each person contributes what they have discovered or think about a certain scripture and they learn from the pool of information by contributing more questions if they want to go deeper or check their understanding.

"strictly moderated forum" does it for me... great idea - I'm for it!

I like it! It would keep those debates off of this forum and help us focus on recovery and personal sharing.

I was wondering... if a post began looking like a debate... could it be transferred off of this room?

Thanks Jerry... HUGS!

Civil debate is very healthy, it's how we learn. I learned so much listening to my parents or grandparents "cuss" and discuss politics and "religion". I think the "front porch" talks need to come back. I love you guys and I just want to hang with you. I guess we can still discuss through pm's????

Hi Jerry,

Good idea. I think we need to keep it very objective. As the detective Friday used to say, "Just the facts Ma'am nothing but the facts.

We have a tremendous brain trust here that could be utilized to clear up how we have come to mis/understand scripture. As long as we seek the truth about what scripture says and not add to nor take away from it I feel we could come to a better understanding together so that scripture will not become so much a trigger for so many here.

Our collective understanding would be a wonderful way to shed light on what God is saying to us. We not only need God and His Word, we need each other, His Church.
