Friends,

Is anyone adverse to praying for a pussy cat and her mommy? If not spare us a few prayers. I know God loves all his creatures I spent a very long night in prayer and comforting my little pussycat.

We returned from 2 weeks away and discovered that our elder lady cat (15 yrs old) was definitely not doing well. After a few hours, I discovered she has a huge open wound on her breast. She is obviously in pain but we were not able to contact an animal emergency number last night. So today the vet will see her at 3 PM that is 9 AM on the east coast of USA.

I was awake most of night with her petting her and literally holding paws/hands with her. She needed to touch me and would wrap her paw around my finger. If I fell asleep she would wake me for more attention.

It doesn't look good and I am heartbroken. I fear we will come home without her today if this is a cancer and not just a burst abscess.

Anna Marta :(

It was huge and deep, but the doctor is 99.9% sure it is only a burst abscess. :D They debrided it and gave her strong pain medicine. I couldn't stay in the room, Steinar had to be the tough one.

:(

I know how you feel...I would be devastated if something like that happened to my "Dragon" - my kitty of 13 years.

Dear Anna,,,
I had a cat that developed the same thing,,,,,,,Just in case the "Vet" didn't tell you,,,,,,,,While the cat is healing you need to keep the wound open,,,,,,forcing it to heal from the inside out  .....Yes ,,,,I know "Yuck" but it is necessary ;)

Hey Jerry,

That's exactly what we have to do. I have an ointment to apply to it daily that promotes formation of granulation tissue /healing. Yeah, YUCK :p is right! Also antibiotics to give her twice a day.

She is currently sitting on the floor on a towel next to Steinar totally zoned out. She staggers around every so often. Still not awake enough to eat.

Thanks Willow and SH for your prayers and good thoughts. She really is my baby...
Love

Well, after the loss of Rose and Fidelio, I can surely relate to this post. Understand completely.

Praying for your kitty's return to health and your heart as you care for her.

Pets mean a lot to many of us and God cares for them too, in my opinion. They are his creations too, for one thing, and He cares for the things that we care for, for another.

I am glad your kitty does not have cancer. And that the wound can be treated and will heal. I pray for my pet cockatiel all the time - whenever I leave town. Whenever I see a stray dog that looks lost, I pray for God to help him/her find their way home.

I agree with everyone else, animals are part of God's creation and I believe He cares for them too!

I am sorry I haven't posted in a long time. First, it was because my job made everyone stop getting on the internet, even after hours. And now on top of that, it is because lately I've just wanted to read the posts, and not say anything. Like being in a group and just wanting to listen to everyone else talk for awhile.

Glad you stopped in. Feel free to "listen in" if you want. Help yourself to the coffee. :)

Dear Pinkie Pie,

There is also a time to just want to be near without having to do anything. In our house we call it "hold me, but don't touch me" times. Translation: I just need to be near you.

You are loved dear Pinkie.

Thank you SO much all you friends for your compassion.

She is up walking around today able to eat her high protein high calorie wet food - talk about a treat for a pussy who only gets dry food. :D

Ex Shep - I am so sorry for you and the loss of the kitties. Fidelio is irreplaceable to be sure. When time is right, I hope you will be able to afford to add a new life to your apartment. (Have you heard of the RagaMuffin breed? Sounds perfect for you, they are indoor, can be walked on a leash, act like dogs in their way of following you around and interacting with people.)

Oh Anna I am so sorry to hear about your cat! I love cats and I know how it feels when they are...uh...mortal...haha. I will definately be praying!;)

And Shep, I am sorry too about your babies.....I know it added insult to injury, and I am really sorry.
My Daddy gave my cat "away" once and told me he had a 1-800 number that he could call and check on his "adoption" progress....and I believed him! My husband was like, " uh, Maggie, you know your dad is full of crap right?":D:D My daddy was quite a salesman. ;)

The cats are up for adoption at the Cleveland Animal Protection League if anyone is interested. That and the fact that Cleveland is now ranked as the fourth poorest city, down from number one last year is extremely depressing. Cincinnati is up in the rankings. I had to move here too.

You definitely have a point there. Read up on them between calls. Now that is something to pray about.
