Hi...

I just was thinking about it. I was questioning myself about it and I am still thinking.

I am good? They are good?

I am bad? They are bad?

I am Godly? They are Godly?

or....

We are good?
We are bad?
We are Godly?

Bless you all.

Crisol,

I want to be good, but sometimes I am bad, even though God has made His home in my heart.

I have no idea about "they", but I hope they are like me, so we can forgive each other by allowing God's Spirit in us to heal each other.

God is good all the time.

Love,
Anna Marta

"There is none righteous, no, not one..." - Romans 3:10

"But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." - Romans 7:23-8:1.

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." - Isaiah 1:18.

"...It is finished..." - John 19:30.

We may not be good in ourselves, Crisol; in fact, we are not. Our good deeds are as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6) - but Jesus's righteousness, faith, and standing with the Father as His child have all been given (imputed) to us through His atonement on our behalf. (Psalm 32:2; Romans 4; 2 Corinthians 5:19, and others...) We are His, and the Father warmly accepts us as His own! (Luke 15:11-32.)

We who are His could not possibly be in better earthly or eternal circumstances, no matter what afflictions or hardships we must endure here - for we are His eternally, and "no one shall pluck us out of His hand." (John 10:29; Romans 8:35-39.)

Love in our Lord Jesus Christ,

mary

It kinda makes me think of the book back in the 70s called "I'm OK, You're OK". It was followed by a series of other books... "I'm not OK, You're not OK"; "I'm OK, but You're not OK"; etc. etc.

I am thinking again:) that I am not good, but I know that since I did born again Christian, before I thought I was a very good person. I did not realize I was a sinner until God opened my spiritual eyes. Was a huge revelation to me and then, when I received the forgiveness of the Lord, I felt clean and different.

Now, I know I am bad but not in God’ eyes, because God does not see me directly, He see me trough Jesus Christ, and to Him now I am perfect. Some time, when a make mistake, I can feel His Presences when I ask Him for forgiveness. I am important, perfect and loving to my Heavenly father.

I am Godly?

I was a good person before I born again Christian. I did a lot of volunteer jobs, I help a lot of people, I went to visit people in their houses and Hospital…but, I did not knows I was a sinner until God reveals that to me. The world is full of good people! I see them every day life, wherever I go, I can see good and caring people. But they are Godly?
Now, I know I am a bad person but the grace of God is in my life every day and I need His grace and favor to do the things that God wants me to do. I don’t want to be just a good person. The world is full of righteous people. But, is not enough to God. I would like to be Godly to please my Heavenly Father in Heaven. God prefers bad people repented than good people that they never recognize God in their lives.
To be Godly is a sacrifice of too many things. Is not easy but is not impossible with the Holly Spirit in me. Every day I am dying little by little.

I love Jesus with all my heart! I want to be Godly not to be a showing off, but because I Love God I would like to be Godly. If I love God, I have to love what He loves, and if I love God, I have to cry for what He cries and laugh with what make Him laugh.
God heart is breaking with the pain of the world and my heart as well, because we suffer with what He suffers. That is the reason God needs His children, to be His ambassadors in the earth. Jesus spoke about Heaven and Hell, and also spoke about good people, bad people, and Godly people. Some people can be very bad in our eyes, but for God they are perfect. Some people can be very good in our eyes, but for God they are a sinner and need repentance. God is looking for Godly people to do His job in this earth:( because we are His servants.

I am still thinking in this verses….

2 Timothy 2: 24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient.

James 3(King James Version)
17But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

God bless you all

Crisol, recognizing what you do about yourself is a sure sign God is at work in your heart.

One thing. Jesus did not come to make bad people good. He came to make dead people ALIVE. Rom 6:3 - Rom 3:23

Amen, Crisol and Reg!

Crisol, you need not worry... On this forum, from what we can read of your heart and mind, you show every indication of having been born again, and therefore freed from judgment of your sins... Yes, to Him you are Godly, for He looks at you and sees a precious gift, paid for by the blood of His only begotten Son, and presented to Him for His love, companionship and fellowship through eternity!

Reg, yes!!!!! If people would just read Ezekiel 36 and 37, and John 3 (but there are a lot of other references to this process throughout both testaments) together, they would realize that just as we did not cause our physical births, so do we not cause our spiritual births. We are "born from above." God does it all... He breathes life into the dead; He heals us of our infirmities and afflictions (sins and sometimes, sicknesses; He makes the latter bearable by His never-ending mercy, love and grace) once He makes us alive.

Love to all,

mary

Gal 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. NIV

What that means to me, is like you explain Crisol, I have had a heart transplant and my heart of stone has been replaced with a new heart in which the Holy Spirit lives. Therefore I AM Godly. :)

So that means to me that I have a good heart even though I struggle with my humanness I know that God is working to use everything that touches my life to make me more like Jesus. Now whether I allow Him to accomplish that is another thing...

Anna Marta

Yep, that'll set you free, and let you set others free as well!!!

****Scripture warning****

Ready?

Genesis 1: 27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

Genesis 3: 4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will belike God, knowing good and evil."

21 The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. 22 And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." 23 So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side [e (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=1&chapter=3&version=31#fen-NIV-80e)] of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

***My own words***

From these passages I see that God made us and called us VERY GOOD.

When we tried to be "like God" (is that the same as Godly?), we were not allowed to live forever.

Maybe we are good, when we are the human beings that God created us to be.

Maybe we are simply bad at being our own little gods.

In the "Wizard of Oz", Dorothy tells the man behind the curtain that his is a "very bad man".

He responds. "No dear, I'm a very good man. I'm just a very bad wizard."

Just my thoughts - for what they are worth...
and I'm giving them to you for FREE!!!

Hi again...

God is good and He makes everything perfect:) including us at the beginning.

Everything Was perfect at the beginning, perfect garden, perfect love, perfect:)

Why we are not perfect anymore Hope?

Is not easy to be Godly, but is possible with the holly spirit in us. I am not perfect, I am not good, but...I try to be Godly wit the grace of God in my life. I believe I have His Presence in me, I believe He loves me, and you know what...I learned to love myself:) because before I did not:(

If we are Godly, we must try...trying and trying not gossip for example, or not hate people, we have to forgive, we have to love others, and respect others with all our heart. Is not about perfection, is about obedience to the Lord and I love Godand His word. If I love God, I try with His help, (not by myself) to do the think He like me to do.

I don't know Hope if I understood clear what you try to say, but, I am not playing God :o. The only thing I am really want is to please God and try be obedient to Him. But, with His grace, other ways is impossible.

God bless you all:)

This is a great discussion. Hope, I know what you mean and Crisol too. Jesus Himself said when He was called "Good Master", "no one is good but God so why do you call Me good." He was getting them to realize that He was God there and I am not arguing the point, just throwing around thoughts. I believe at this point in this process He has me in, that the only goodness and righteousness in me, are His, we don't have any on our own. And that's the point! :D It's also the good news when we say "It's not about me". John the Baptist talked about the fact that he must decrease AND JESUS must increase. It also doesn't mean we don't have responsiblity for our actions but it does enable us to lighten up. Just thoughts, love you guys!

Crisol - I think I understand what you're saying. I don't want to come across as accusing anyone here or in this discussion of wanting to be "like God" in the wrong way.

I believe we understand each other better when we have a clearer idea of words mean to us. In this case - what does it really mean to be "Godly"?

I've heard that word used in different ways at different times, so I ask to understand better.

Hi Hope...
Some time I would like to have more word in english to express what I really mean and people can understand what I try to say. Is not easy:( but I try.

The Bible repeated tells to live out of our new nature (the one we have in Jesus) We are make to be like God. Humanity is made in God's image and being sinful is not being like God. Some body said:

God's influence makes a difference in my life. God gives me hope when I'm down. When I've gotten depressed, God has been right there beside me. Being able to confess my sins to God anytime, anywhere is a wonderful thing. No matter where I am, I can always count on God being right there with me.

As the potter, God is molding me into His image. Even though I may want to be like someone else, I need to realize that God is the one who chooses what we are to become. Accepting that, I need to work to find out what He wants and work at it with all my heart.

He wants me to be like Him and that is to be Godly. We are not God, but we have to be like God. Godly means to walk with Jesus shoes, not in my shoes. Jesus is kind, honest, good friend, he loves everyone and forgive us at all the time. Walking in his shoes is walking with HIS character in me. We need to consider our fallen state and how that affects our nature, but HE IS living in us. Jesus is helping us to be like God's image. I try to put this more simple. I am Crisol and I have two people living in me. One is Jesus and the other one is my human being. I am not like to walk in my shoes, because I am a sinful person but when I walk with Jesus shoes I am like God, because I want to speak like Him, I want to love like Him, I want to forgive like Him, I want to be your friend and every bodys friend:) But if I let Crisol without Jesus, I am easy to be upset, I am easy to feel rejected, I am easy to feeling lonely and sad and very, very guilty (the enemy like that):( In me (Crisol) like jimsmuse said: the only goodness and righteousness in me, are His, we don't have any on our own.

God bless you

Jerry

Dear Crisol,,,
I just want to point out that I think everyone here is cutting you a lot of slack in the language area ;) Also I want to say that you are doing very well."Outstanding" in fact..........Sweetie,your "English" is a whole lot better than my "Spanish" :D

Yup - Your English is way better than my Spanish!

But even when people are all speaking "American", the words we use have different meanings to different people. That's what is behind "triggers" or words that upset many of us so often.

The way that you explain "Godly" is good, that the ONLY righteousness we can have is what God offers us by Grace in Jesus.

Spiritual abusers often come across as if "Godly" means "I'm better than you". I believe that is what causes a lot of trouble!
