Seems like the antivirus folks and firewall folks do not like each other. I have spen close to $150 dollars in software. I finally load the computer with Windows XP. Everything is running fine- except for no sound. I feel like Daffy Duck in Duck Amuck. I do confess a need for an Overreactors Anonymous meeting.
At least store I bought one the disks has a liberal return policy. NotRun is processing a refund. One thing that does keep things in perspective is realizing where I was two months ago.
Ex-Shep, I totally understand... Been there, done that with computers and software programs, both at work and at home.
Yes, indeed: look where you are now compared to a couple of months ago: you've come a very, very long way! :D You have computer hardware and software to frustrate you rather than those tougher things... :o
What went wrong for you is a relatively easy fix, though. We used to have CompUSA around here, but they closed; they were my "go-to" people for everything computer-related. Windows XP is actually very good and I don't know how I ever got along without it. You'll get everything in synch and then you'll forget all about this current snafu.
"Overreactors Anonymous?" Don't we ALL need that from time to time?! ;)
(Latte? Decaffeinated, maybe? :p :) )
Cheers, Ex-Shep -- and have a great Sunday!

Finally back in business. I was at a going out of business sale at Comp USA. I bought tables, fans, and needed cables for under $20 bucks.

See - I HATE my laptop:mad:    I write and lean on the stupid buttons located in the WRONG place and BANG! bad things happen!!!
Anyway, the viking didn't realize my secret affiliation with the a fore mentioned organization, until he caught me with window open (in our 4th floor apartment when first married) with the waffle iron in my hand ready to toss it out the window. We were expecting guests and the D*#% thing was sticking and ruining the waffles! He grabbed it and pointed out the elderly gentleman on the sidewalk below. :(
