Went to get a second opinion on my back yesterday. This time it was Orthopedics and not nuro-surgery.

This doctor says my nerve is compressed between my L2 & L3 discs. This makes total sense to me cause I remember EXACTLY when I hurt my back. (Emptying the dishwasher on the morning of Sat. Oct. 16).It has been very frustrating that the first doctor did not see it!

He gave me a cortozone shot and a script for prednesone and wants me to take physical therapy. He wants to see me again in 3 weeks.

I had the same problem back in 1999, when my L5 disc was compressing on my sciatic nerve. Nothing worked to fix that except surgery to remove the pressure.

Please continue to pray that these treatments work. I really don't want to have to go through another back surgery.

I still continue to have pain though not as constant nor as intense as it has been. If anyone has ever had nerve pain then you can relate to what I'm going through. I have extreme "flare ups" a few times a week when all I can do is lie down until it diminishes.

I am going to try to go back to work at the church this morning. I'm not sure how long I will be able to do it (as far as sitting goes) but from what I've heard, office supplies need to be ordered and my desk is piled high with so much stuff you can't even see it. ( So probably won't be doing too much sitting anyway.)

I'm awake at this rediculous hour because I woke up at 1:50 am in pain. Took some medicine and tried to go back to sleep but, by 2:30 am I was still wide awake so, I just started the coffee pot and here I am.

Thanks SO MUCH for your prayers! They ARE working!!!

Glad to here that you know what is wrong.

The physical therapy may do a lot of good. Will pray.

Doug :)

Great News Janice, finally getting to the real problem.

I've had a lot of phsio for some problems I had after I had a bad accident and also for back injuries. It does help but the process is slow. :(

That is really great to have a diagnosis. I have dealt with recurring illness with no diagnosis before, and it is SO frustrating. It is wonderful that now they can treat you specifically related to your diagnosis.
