We've had about a foot so far today with blizzard conditions. I'm just glad I'm not up in New York where they have 141 inches (about 12 feet) of snow. I cannot imagine that!

Getting hit hard!!! Not complaining..speaking as a teacher, I only have two words to say...."Snow Day!!" Yea!!!!!!:D
Isnt' it funny how everyone runs to the store before a snowstorm as if we will be stuck for weeks at a time.
Well around here I can only remember one ice storm back in the 70s when I was a kid that we had to be brought to a shelter...don't remember for how long....
but can't imagine starving to death from a modern day storm.
Voyager- that must be the one coming here.
I was hearing about that New York snow on T.V....well, I guess there you would have to have food! hehehe
It sounds like fun- but scary too........wouldn't want anyone to get hurt.

Getting hit with up to 10" here tonight... It's kind of fun. Jane, I understand you're getting a lot more than we are.
Rich has already said that we're not going to do the over-50-mi. round-trip to Bible study tomorrow night. Whatever. God has sent this snow and all of His "gifts" are perfect - :D :D :D

Unfortunately there is no snow storm in northern Minnesota. The good news is that it got above zero the other day.:D :D

We got a little rain today - as I was driving home from work I saw a little bit of very small hail bouncing off my car. The temperature was in the 60's. Last week the temperature was in the 80's for 3 days in a row. But on the afternoon and evening of January 25th we had snow. January 26th was first "snow day" off school I can remember ever happening here. My son was thrilled! Do I live in a crazy city or what?

I have lived in the north my whole life. In my world, snow is a good thing because it will mean warmer temperatures in northern Minnesota. If you are getting the snow in the deep south like Iowa or Ohio, then it means that we get ALL THE COLD like 30 and 40 below zero. In short, I want snow because it means warmer tempt's. Sorry, I am being self-centered here.:p ;) ;) :D :D
some food or [snow] for thought

Our deli was absolutely non stop! We're getting hit with some hard rains. 'Very little snow here in south jersey. :(
We got about 8 inches, according to my husband who shoveled it this morning... A couple of more inches are coming in the next day or so.
Our son happens to be in Washington, DC right now on a business trip, where he says they got about 10". I understand that they closed Reagan and Dulles Airports. He flew into Reagan yesterday and was supposed to fly out of there this afternoon. I suppose he'll be trapped there for at least another day...
mary
P. S. I sure am glad I'm not working now. They showed the freeways around here on TV and the county road crews had done nothing during the night. Accidents everywhere...

8 inches? Maybe my snow radar is off but it looks like 4 to me? I dont watch the news tho...regardless---I WANT MORE!:D
we don't have as many inches so far as what they said, but it is coming down as ice....everything here looks beautiful...and dangerous.
So we've got 4 inches or so of ice....thank god for our woodstove, if the power goes out we are still warm and can still cook.
Butterfly,
looks like you guys are getting burried in snow:D

Well, Abbey, you know, I'm in that "Washtenaw County snow belt" and you're not... All I know is that all winter, when I've gone up to Oakland County for a doctor's appointment, it seems as though they've got less snow up there than we do. "A-Squared"* usually gets a couple of inches more than other places around here anyway.
Hey, I'm so glad to hear your news that your doctor thinks that lump is benign! >Hallelujah Chorus playing in the background< That's always a good sign, when they say, "That looks benign to me." Have the biopsy (let us know when it's scheduled, okay?) - and don't worry about it. :) :) :)
Love,
mary
*"A-Squared" - for all of you who've never lived in MI: that's what some of us around here call Ann Arbor. It comes from abbreviating it as AA, or A2, which becomes "A-Squared." But "A-Squared" is anything but "square;" it's the origin of the infamous Hash Bash and the Nude Run and all that... Some of the weirdest people in the entire world live or have lived in A2 - but also some of the nicest.
It's "a mitten thing!" :D

Checkin' in with another day of ice. It's not going to melt with colder temps tonight and tomorrow. Yes, thank you Lord for woodstoves and electric that stayed on for us who don't have woodstoves:) Everyone stay warm and safe:D
Biting, searing cold here... Twelve below zero on the wind chill where I live right now; was 1 above, now 6 on the air temp. The house has a chill in it, no matter what you set the thermostat to.
Spring - when? Well, we don't really get "spring" here many years. It usually goes from 37 to 86 degrees in about a day and a half... Stinks. But then, of course, the Lord knows what He's doing... :D :D :D
