View Full Version : Do Hormones make us insane?

jane

Lately I have been attending church with my girls at work.

See if you can google it; GATEWAY CHURCH West Haven Connecticut.

Let me know what you think.

I have been going off and on for about 6 weeks.

I have been crying and missing being a part of a "body"

I have been trying to talk my husband into going here...even though it is about an hour and a half a way from home....don't forget my 6 year old can't be in a car for more than 20 minutes.

Well, I just found out that I am pregnant...(YEAH)

6 weeks.

Now I am wondering if my pregnancy is drawing me towards the need to be part of "God's family" again..........

PLUS I find myself SO INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL to God for putting giving us this child. I can't begin to tell you the pain my husband and I have faced...if you can remember the way the church treated us when we lost two babies....
So part of me is afraid. You know, "if I am good and return to church, God won't take this baby away"

what do you guys think?

jane

JANE!!!! You're back!! We missed you so much! And what HAPPY news! I am so so excited for you!

Yes I think hormones make us insane, especially in the first trimester when you feel like hell anyway. You're tired, you're sick, and, since you have past experiences, incredibly paranoid.;) God isn't going to "take" this baby from you, even if you should lose it. It just means God has things for you to do and learn first before you are ready to be their mommy.:p ;) He just hangs onto them until that day. At least that is my theory and nobody kill it for me ok?:D

I think you wanting to be a part of a body is a natural part of the nurturing thing that takes you over when you're preggers.;) You are completely normal, everything will work itself out, you just sit back and enjoy the ride sweet pea!CONGRATULATIONS!

Thanks!

It is good to be back. Trying to catch up on some reading...I guess little by little.

I have been so busy that most nights I crash into my bed and sleep....

Thanks for the encouragement.

I like being pregnant, so this little surprise is a joy and it will make me SLOW down!

hehehe.

I think you hit the nail on the head....

I think I am reacting PTSD.....

in many areas.

The other day my heart starting pounding uncontrollably....and my breathing...

my sleep is short....

and I am afraid.

afraid of so many things.

Funny how that PTSD thing creaps up on you when live gets stressful or situations remind one of old things........

thanks.

Jane - I did miss you!

Will be praying for your pregnancy and your fears.

I understand you wanting to be part of a body too. Maybe you've found a group who will support you through this pregnancy.

I pray that the near future holds a lot of promise and peace.

Dear Sweet Jane,,,,
How wonderful for you :D All women face that fear with each and every pregnancy regardless of history. The state of your personal anatomy, your general health, and most importantly the integrity of your environment, are the factors affecting weather a baby is carried to term................ ;) I do not believe that God is running a "Protection Racket" :D

Congratulations Jane,

I know, the intrepidation you must feel. Try not to let this force you to make decisions that may bypass your critical thinking process. I know you've got a good head on your shoulders and will avoid that. Of course, I don't know about those hormones. :D

I always enjoy reading your posts. You always seem to make so much sense. I like how you seem to get to the truth quickly like a hot knife through butter.

I took a little time and checked out GATEWAY.

Here's a part I'm a little concerned about. Every time I here the word "Apostle" it is a trigger for me. The church I exited believed that HWA was an Apostle.
We came to understand that there are no Apostles today. They were only the 12 mentioned in the Bible. So you can understand why this put a red flag up in my mind.

I got this from: For more information on Pastor Brian and Stairways Ministries, visit www.stairwayministries.org

Our Apostolic Team consists of Ephesians 4:11 leaders with a recognized local and extra local ministry. These ministers encourage and pray for HIM churches and visit each area when possible.

The Apostolic Team also consists of prophets who have an internationally known and recognized prophetic ministry, and apostles who oversee churches in various nations.

Dr. Che Ahn functions as the Apostle overseeing the Apostolic Team and HIM. Pastor Lou Engle functions as the Prophet to Che Ahn and to HIM.

I checked these out.....

What We Believe

Our Revival Declaration

We believe God the Father is a consuming fire, the Father of lights and the source of all true
revival.

We believe Christ is the resurrection and the life. He revives all He touches. He came to set fire
to the earth in a great kingdom revival. He bore our sins, died our death, and rose again with a
fire stronger than the grave. He ascended to the Father's glory, from where He now rules and
reigns over all.

We believe the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of revival. He is the sacred flame that ignites, the divine
river that renews, the holy wine that intoxicates, the sovereign wind that blows where it pleases.
He is the Spirit that regenerates, sanctifies, illuminates, and revives. He is the Spirit of Divinity,
pure, powerful, and miraculous. Where He is there is freedom, there is life.

We believe the Word of God is alive and powerful. It is the divine revelation, the holy wisdom. It
wounds and heals, kills and makes alive. It revives us causing our hearts to burn. It instructs us
with the fire of wisdom, giving us the mind of Christ. It is a lamp to our feet and a light to our
path.

We believe prayer is the language of the heart that longs for revival. It is the incense of adoration,
the cry of desperation, the shout of faith. It is effectual and powerful to bring heavens fire to
earth.

We believe the church is the community of Christ. It is the fireplace in which His fire burns, the
keeper of the flame. It is the lampstand that shines. It is the light of the world. The church was
birthed with fire on the day of Pentecost. That fire must never die but burn ever brighter until the
coming of that great and glorious day. It cannot be contained. It must be spread until the entire
world is aflame for Christ.

Now compare this to what I/we believe.

PRIMARY (BASIC) CORE DOCTRINES - “THE ESSENTIALS”

Number 1
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible,
authoritative word of God. (Heb. 1:1-2)

Number 2
We believe there is one God, eternally existing and revealing
himself to us in the three divine persons --- Father, Son and Holy
Spirit. (Matt. 28:19 - baptized under these words) (Laying on of hands)

Number 3
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ. (In His virgin
birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and
atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension and His
personal return in power and glory)

Number 4
We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for
salvation and eternal life. (It is by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit
that we are enabled to live a godly life in Christ Jesus.)

Number 5
We believe in the resurrection of everyone who has ever lived.
(Some will be resurrected to life, some will be resurrected to damnation)

Number 6
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Jesus Christ through
the Holy Spirit. (For those who are born again, we live in the spirit
and because we do, because Jesus Christ's righteousness is imputed
to us, we have no fear of eternal judgement.)

Number 7
We believe it is our calling to work together in devotion, to proclaim
the gospel and advance the Kingdom of God. (Devotion: the things
we do as Christians in response to God's love --- Our regular attendance in Church. [Personally, not necessarily. We are the church and I attend regularly here.] :) our regular prayer, our service, our ministry that we have individually, expressing the gifts of the Holy Spirit, working together
in word and in deed)

Based on what Gateway believes they sound somewhat Charismatic. Is that correct?

Just take it slowly Jane and enjoy the fellowship. Just keep that critical thinking process well oiled. You know the kind of oil I mean. ;)

Oh crap, I hope I didn't make it sound like that! I totally didn't mean it that way! I don't believe God "takes" anyone from us, or that he protects some and not others.....sorry if that's how I made it sound.:o

Reg-

I am so glad that you took the time to look.... I knew I could count on you!

They are somewhat charismatic but not really.

What do I mean by that?

The worship seems less charismatic than my last church.

The music is contemporary and they raise their hands.....

...and less charismatic than some "holy ghost on fire" churches that we have visited with our girls in the city of New Haven. Some of those churches can go on for hours.........and hours........and stamp out devils.....yell and shout...fall down ....and shake.... can be a fun time, but somewhat exhausting :) and I wonder how real.

Some of our girls are uncomptfortable in all black churches....and most of them are uncomptfortable in catholic and congregational churches...

This church had a nice mixture of people, with a nice worship service (we only worship...no "extras")....and the sermon seems bible based.

SO, I am trying to find something for a unit of teenage girls with mixed backgrounds of what they are comptfortable with....

Personally,
I do get worried about a few things....they have a "college"....were you pay for classes...

reminds me of the old church...making us leaders attend and pay for class and books :(.

and the way the worship leader leads....seems to "draw people into worship" by using technics that I now see as controlling and possibly mind controlling....

and the spacey happy smile of "peace" on everyone's face.... call me insane, but I am often skeptic at those faces....

Thanks for sharing, now I will spend more time reading into it before my family goes....

Oh, I read that when you first posted it and I didn't think that you implied anything of the sort.............

I thought it was encouraging and positive...

I think Jerry is just writing to my own fears from my past experiences that I wrote about.

That's all.

Thanks for helping me find what you meant, I got confused:confused:
which is easy for me to do on the computer.
