Anyone read anything by Neil Anderson???

I've recently been given a cpl of books by him and while I think he's got some good stuff in there ... there also seems to be a lot of waffle... anyone familiar with his stuff that could explain why my stomach knots up when I read it...

I dunno.... it's hard to explain... It makes sense LOGICALLY... but for whatever reason some of it just don't sound RIGHT... if that makes any sense???

Seriously (not that anyone has not been completely non-serious)

I've been part of a group that has been working its way through Victory over the Darkness, and the Bondage Breaker. I have very mixed feelings about his ideas. He has some that are excellent and extremely helpful and others that are completely contradictory to those helpful ideas.

I've found that by applying one of the AA basics "Take what works and leave the rest" and at that in small chunks, I'm fine.

If you get knots in your stomach - well - just be glad that you didn't pay for the books.

Also since you call yourself ex-witch, I suspect his material may be touching some tender spots that haven't completely healed yet. You may need some work in those areas, but I suspect you are more likely to just need more time to pass.

How does that sound to you?

In my church, the leaders used his book on "boundaries" and something on demons to throw everyone they didn't like out and labeled them demon-possessed.

Good topic Oz.

I was a Neil Anderson fan years ago when a friend recommended his material to me, but then that was during my early fundie days, and even then I had a weird sensation.

Lately I read a remarkably good explanation of the reasons why his material is "off". I class him in with Derek Prince and the whole genre of those who think we need to confess the sins of our ancestors. Hearing that he was educated in a Mormon environment explains why the ancestor emphasis.

Hope has a point with the meat and bones example. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Had to add one note.

I went throught Anderson's "Steps to Freedom in Christ". There were things that I "confessed" that I wish I hadn't. I realized later that I was responding to Neil Anderson's ideas of sin, and not necessarily God's.

Overall - I believe that the experience did MUCH more good than harm. I think I can give God the credit for that though - not Neil.

Yup - just gotta know what parts to spit out! The clue is when your stomach starts to knot up...

Patty, do you still attend this church? I was involved in a group not demon possessed , but demon obsessed! I was severely Sa'd there. They said I was FILLED with demons! *shakes head* Are you gone from that church or still attending. My group was fanatical, abusive charasmatics.

As far as Neil A, hes a little out there for me, some stuff ok, but wouldnt recommed 'em. After going thru 24/7/365 warfare with those people, I have different views on warfare...its over...gosh i cant find the word....UGH! Demons do exists, but They are not behind every tree. Most warfare ministers go waaaayyyy overboard. And then that scares people and the concentration is on the evil and not on Christ, service, love, fellowship etc.
