Hi there...
I was just wondering if anyone here has ever read a book called, "A Door of Hope" by Jan Frank. It's basically about recovering from incest - though just about any kind of abuse could fit. It's specifically geared toward Christians and I have found it to be a WONDERFULLY refreshing book.
Like Jerry said in another post - forgiveness doesn't always equal reconciliation. Many Christians won't give you that perspective. To be honest, it is because of that book that I decided to go into counseling - I want to teach others about this so they won't be trying to put band-aids on open heart surgery!!
Anyway, I highly recommend the book. It has steps in it that are well defined and it also cautions that if abusers aren't safe, then don't reconcile. Also...forgiveness is toward the END of the process - it's not the only step (which many people seem to think it is).
Anyway, if anyone has read it, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks!
Hannah
