Well... It seems to me that there's been a lot of fractures and hurts that have happened over the past week or so and it may be time for us all to lighten up a touch and take a few deep breaths and just get to know each other from scratch and begin anew...

...a time to build bridges...

After all... we ALL have a cpl of things in common already... We have been hurt in the past... and we love Christ... and He brought us all here for a reason...

What other things do we have in common???

Well let's see shall we????... ;)

OK... to get the ball rolling...

1. What is the silliest prank you ever played on someone?

Waited until my little brother got in the bath and had just begun to relax and rushed in and threw 100 Alka Seltsa pills in the water... FROTH EVERYWHERE...

OK I was 12... he was 9... it was a good idea at the time...

2. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be and how long would it take you to spend the $10,000?

1. What is the silliest prank you ever played on someone?
We took Steinar's "proper" parents to America to visit mine. At the breakfast table the 1st day after we had all been seated, I told everyone to stand up and had them switch places; they did this, and after being seated again, I immediately declared that wouldn't work and repeated the seat changing process. After the 3rd time, my dad caught on and declared, "If you are trying to piss me off, you have succeeded!" (BTW - I was 45 yrs old)

2. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be and how long would it take you to spend the $10,000?

The middle eastern biblical lands - an extended stay with scholars and families and bedouins cause there's so much I don't know and want to understand

1. What is the silliest prank you ever played on someone?

This is great. Not so silly, but it was a great prank. I grew up as the oldest of 5, 3 boys in the middle and my sister was the baby. My middle brother was my bete noir. When I was 8 and and he was 6, we were driving through Chicago on the El, on our way to visit the relatives in WI, on a Friday at rush hour in a driving rainstorm. My brother had been getting on my nerves all day... My father had also been on my case and I was cheesed at him, too. So I snatched my brother's shoe off his foot and tossed it out the car window - and then sat back in the seat to laugh. My brother screamed, "She threw my shoe out the window!" My mom said to my father, "Paul, we didn't bring another pair of shoes for him!" So my father pulled over on the El, walked back and fetched the shoe... I was punished severely for it (it was worth it) and decades have gone by - but I still laugh every time I think about it. :D

Re: coffee yogurt - Yep, Jean-Luc... It is great... :) You don't have it in Australia? Several different kinds around here... I like cappucino yogurt, too. I hope, for your sake, that you get it in the stores around you soon.

Jerry, that's tremendous: playing your navel with a bicycle pump! :D :D :D Gosh, I wish I'd thought of that! :p I doff my hat to you, sir!

Been to Ireland; Dublin is... interesting. First of all, the street signs are hard to read; some in Gaelic and in some cases, one side of the street is named something and the other side is named something else. Very confusing. Grafton St., the main drag downtown, was full of panhandlers. We went to the zoo and someone had thrown a dirty diaper into the polar bear exhibit; a bear was inspecting it carefully. We went into the large, beautiful city park, St. Stephen's Green, with our then-11-year-old son. It was 3 p.m. I looked around and I said to my husband, "We need to leave - NOW." He saw the same thing I did and we grabbed our son and took off like a shot. (Couples under trees doing, well, you-know-what in literal broad daylight. "Het" couples, but still...) Also, we happened to be there at the summer solstice when the sun sets at about 11 p.m. and is back up, high in the sky, at 3 a.m. I didn't sleep very well.

On the other hand, we had a rental car and we drove outside of Dublin, southwest... I don't think I've ever seen more beautiful scenery anywhere, except for Banff and Lake Louise. The "green" in the Irish countryside is like no "green" you're going to see anywhere else. If you can possibly go, Jerry, grab the opportunity. The next time I go, I want to go to Northern Ireland because we didn't get up there the last time. Some of my forebears were from Northern Ireland.

1. What is the silliest prank you ever played on someone?

When I was about 11 I had this ongoing prank with my little brother, that there was a secret passage in my parent's closet that led to an underground tunnel system where my "mole friends" lived. So one day to further convince him, I told him if he let me blindfold him, I'd take him on a tour of the tunnel. So I did blindfold him, led him into my parent's closet, then led him back out and with a lot of sound effects and fantastical descriptions of what I was seeing, led him around our yard and street describing the "mole world" we were in. My two other brothers even got in on it and pretended to be "enemy moles" attacking us and I fought them off to defend my blindfolded brother. Very weird....... it's still a joke between us.

8. What place in the world would you MOST like to visit? Why?

Australia! It seems to have a little bit of everything I'm interested in: outback wilderness, cosmopolitan, unusual wildlife, sea shores, to name a few. Plus I'd like to experience the seasons "Backwards".

9. What place in the world would you LEAST like to visit? Why?

Coke.

11. Is your calendar always on the correct month (or day, if it is a day calendar)?

At home yes, at work, no.

12. Desk: messy or organized?

Organized messy. To the casual observer, it's a mess, but I know exactly which pile that particular report is under.

13. Pet ownership – which is better? Dog or Cat?

Probably a dog. I love cats and the fact that they are lower maintenance than a dog, but a dog seems like it would be more fun.

Jodie Foster, adult. Anna-Sophia Robb or Dakota Fanning, pre-adolescent.

20. What is your all time favorite (clean) joke?

A man calls the family doctor about his wife.

"Doctor, my wife is going deaf and I can't persuade her to come in to get it checked out. What should I do?"

The doctor tells him, "Well, maybe if you conduct a little experiement with her, that will let her see she needs to get her hearing checked." So the doctor tells the man what to do, and that evening he puts it into motion.

He walks into the kitchen and sees his wife at the kitchen sink doing dishes, with her back to him. So he stands about 10 feet behind her and says, "Honey, what's for dinner?" She doesn't answer him. So he takes a few steps closer, and says "Honey, what's for dinner." Still no answer. The man's worst fears are being confirmed. He takes a few more steps, and says a little louder, "HONEY, what's for DINNER?" She still doesn't answer.

Finally in desparation he gets up right behind her and says "HONEY, WHAT'S FOR DINNER???" and the wife yells back "FOR THE 4TH TIME, I SAID CHICKEN!!!!"

Ohhh, Pinkie Pie, aren't little brothers fun??? :) ;) The Lord gives them to us to have such fun with, doesn't He?

Another prank I pulled on all three of my brothers (they're one, two and four years younger than I) was this: when I was about 10, "Santa" gave me a perfume-making kit. :D It had about 60 vials of "fragrances" and there was an instruction booklet that taught you how to combine various of these vials for "customized" perfumes. I had all of Christmas vacation to experiment with it. I learned an awful lot in that time span... ;) (In hindsight, and because "he" knew me, what was "Santa" thinking? ?)

Well, the first day that we were all to go back to school, I was ready. I'd concocted the most foul-smelling, basic lavender-and-rose "perfume" I possibly could. As all three of my brothers were putting on their coats for school, I poured this concoction over each of their heads. Phew!!!! Even I couldn't stand it - but it was darned funny. My mom had to give them all shampoos and they were a little late getting to school that day.

An odd thing ensued, though: when I came home from school that day myself, I couldn't find that perfume-making kit. It had disappeared permanently. Too bad: I had other plans in the making... :p :p :p

Lest you think I was a total brat who got away with everything - no. The paybacks were there, in spades... They're still doing things to me... :)

1. What is the silliest prank you ever played on someone?
Im definitely not a prankster, dont even know really how to do it but????????? My memory of my one time I tried it because my brother was always a true prankster..........I cant even tell what he used to do to me on here to give you an idea........so anyway my one attempt was:

that I racked my brain trying to get him a good gift for Christmas and my mother said why not give him a good pen? I didnt have any money, as usual, we never did, so i wrapped the pen in handkerchiefs and wrapped all of the handkerchiefs in several packages taking me several days to wrap each one.

I made each of them more special then the next and printed number one number two on each present so he would open them consecutively. He was really excited about all of these little gifts under the tree. Couldnt wait to see what was in them, so of course the whole thing was lost on him totally. I thought he was going to kill me literally which he almost did several times.
Lesson learned!
Dont ever prank a prankster!

2. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be and how long would it take you to spend the $10,000?
Probably Nordstroms, shoes dresses nitegowns, you name it Id buy it for me and my daughter and my daughter in law too. Not long would any of it take me.........or an art store and not long 10,000.00 wouldnt ever do me long in any store Id find a way to spend it all believe me.

3. If money were not an object, what would you do with your life? I would have a house that I built all myself. Lots of land with a house on the back side of it far enough away to igve us bot space but I would have that house for my daughter with everyhting she would need there. She could have all of her animals there too horses im sure and we would have abhuge swimming pool because we love to swim both of us we could live in the water. I would have someone to be her friend and care for her every need. I would have someone come in to teach her everything so she could learn again. I would have a sewing room with someone to help me sew and i would open up my own design company for womesn clothes. Believe me I could be so rich. I can make this stuff happen I know. Womens clothing is so ugh dont get me started!
Then my art studio and models of my choosing so I wouldnt have to just make stuff in my head up but could see them for real so i could really paint what I want.
I would have well paid people that would love working for me because i would be an awesome boss and I would have them cook and clean because i dont want to do that stuff.
I would not only send money to people in need I wouold really help them to get their lives better. If I was so rich It was impossible to imagine it likeBill gates? Id help those people in Africa that are being slaughtered and those people in Irag.
Id also like some sort of a really cool sportscar like the one I saw yesterday but just for awhile not long. My husband would never have to work again and he would at least be able to rest and play his beloved golf game.
Id give all of this stupid inheritance to my family so they wouldnt be able to point their fingers at me for anything. Then Id say asta la vista baby to all of them.
Id give my friends the ones that did good to me a huge present out of nowhere.........
Id have a really cool web site with all of my own stuff on it.
Id let my dogs run on my beautiful land all they wanted too.
Id take trips to places i want to see but not for long. Id go to Maine in the fall. California once. Up north for sure i love the mountains. Switzerland, Ireland, thats it. Nowhere else.

1. What is the silliest prank you ever played on someone?
I don't do pranks, because I don't like them being played on me. I always felt so embarrassed by them, I avoid hurting other’s feelings by not doing pranks. I have learned to take them good-naturedly, but hate pranks nevertheless.
2. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be and how long would it take you to spend the $10,000?
Just going by gut feeling, the book store, definitely (one that sells book-case solutions as well). An electronic store would be nice, too. I could spend the money quickly on gadgets.
3. If money were not an object, what would you do with your life?
Build me a small house in a fertile, but no tornado/no earthquake/no hurricane/no flood/no crime area, near but not in a large town, access to transportation and school, with enough garden for some flowers in the front and a good-sized vegetable garden in back, maybe even room for some chickens, share a milk cow with the neighbors...the newest technologies, energy saving, solar, wind energy, and wireless DSL....theme – self-sufficiency. I’d also go back to the univ. and get a degree in something.
4. Which person (either alive or a historical figure) would you most like to meet in person and why?
Jesus Christ, I’d like to find out what he said and did that they didn’t put in the gospels, and of course because he is my Lord. I’d like to honor him too, in person. If he would not be on the list I'd like to see my grandfather again or meet my twin sister that died when she was four days old.
5. Thunderstorms... Cool or Scarey?
Hate 'em, but it is manageable when I'm indoors.
6. What TV or Movie character best 'describes' you as you were growing up? Goofy.
7. What song best describes you when you first wake up in the morning?
Manic Monday – The Bangles
8. What place in the world would you MOST like to visit? Why?
Where my parents are. They are my best friends.
9. What place in the world would you LEAST like to visit? Why?
The set of a game show or reality show. I think they are so stupid.
10. Coke or Pepsi?
PEPSI! No caffeine, no sugar. They don't seem to sell that kind in Europe, it is either no caffeine or no sugar, and Coke is much too prevalent – with either no caffeine OR no sugar. I don’t want to drink the sugar, and don’t want my children to drink it either, or have them revved up on caffeine. We usually opt for no-added-sugar fruit juice or tap water.
11. Is your calendar always on the correct month (or day, if it is a day calendar)?
I sometimes forget to turn the page until it is almost two months later, though my pocket calendar is usually up-to-date. I have no sense of time, one day and one week are too like the others. The end of the year is a pain, because I have to get a new pocket calendar and at least one other calendar, for Italy, for Germany, for the US. I tend to miss appointments that are made on Mondays or the first day of a month, so almost never make any on those days.
12. Desk: messy or organized?
I'd love it clean, but because I have to clean it, it is really messy. My desk is the top of the piano.
13. Pet ownership – which is better? Dog or Cat?
I love dogs, but since I have my first cat, I have been won over, independent, fuzzier than any dog I had, I love it when she purrs, she keeps me company without being obvious about it. She likes quiet as much as I do. She doesn't stink after being in the rain and even dries herself off unobtrusively. She also eats less than even the smallest dog I had.
14. What is your favorite food?
Mom's pot roast, which I know how to make too.
15. Are you always early or terminally late?
I am early most of the time, but have phases where I can be late if I am preoccupied.
16. Big Brother or Australian/American/Canadian Idol fan?
No, never, not in a million years. I like science fiction, fantasy fiction, horror, whodunits and science and nature shows (if they are not too loud and full of irritating music like one Italian nature show is). Am not a big history buff, unless it is presented in an interesting way or from a not-so-usual perspective.
17. What is your favorite book you read as a child?
I read so much that it is hard to remember which was my favorite, I had a lot of favorites, perhaps The Velveteen Rabbit or Charlotte’s Web.
18. What talent would Forum members be surprised to hear you have?
I can sing, (used to be in choirs at the Freiburg cathedral among others), soprano, know a lot of Mozart, Bach, Puccini…, Masses, Mottettes, Gregorian, Latin, German, Italian, French, English, we even sung in Hebrew. That kind of stuff just doesn’t come over in a forum.
19. Who would you want to play you in the movie about your life (pick for various stages if you like)?
Nobody would be interested.

20. What is your all time favorite (clean) joke?
I never got into memorizing jokes after the fifth grade, was too busy thinking about other things. Now I don’t even remember the knock-knock jokes. I do have a sense of humor, but it is more a spur-of-the-moment thing, a comment will be based on the immediate circumstances, depends on how alert I am at the moment too.

4. Which person (either alive or a historical figure) would you most like to meet in person and why?

Nikita Kruschev

Because it was way cool when he pounded on the table with his shoe at the UN :D

I thought that was cool too (the incident was before my time), though I don't agree with Kruschev's reason for doing it. He was too much of a hot-head for diplomacy, but maybe the meeting was not lively enough. :D

20 Favourite joke

A dog walked into the Telegraph Office, wrote his message on the form and gave it to the lady to transmit. It said:

"Wuff, wuff, wuff, wuff, wuff, wuff, wuff, wuff."

"Do you realise," said the lady to the dog, "that you can have 2 more wuffs for the same price?"

"But that," replied the dog, "would make no sense at all!"

20 Another joke (NB not a racist joke, as you will see)

In old Vienna, a old Jew got knocked down by a tram and was fatally injured.

As he was dying, a priest came up to him to give last rites and said:

"My son, do you believe in the Father, the Son,and the Holy Spirit?"

"Here I am dying," replied the Jew, "and the man asks me riddles!"

Wonderful Idea from exwitchoz. :)
1. What is the silliest prank you ever played on someone?
It was a team prank on my dad. He had tracked a mouse in our garage for days and laid out a trap right in front of the door and told everyone several times he would have a mouse in the trap the next morning. (The great wild animal hunter) So mom and I got one of my stuffed animals, which was this giant stuffed mouse and when dad went to bed that night, we took the trap and stuck it on the stuffed mouse's nose. In the morning when dad woke up early for work and expected to see a mouse in his trap, he wasn't disappointed. :D Oh, but he was so mad and didn't talk to us for 3 days. I don't really like practical jokes and don't play them... but that was just begging for it. :o We didn't know he was going to be that mad, because he always played jokes on us. :)

2. If you could have a $10,000 shopping spree to one store, which store would it be and how long would it take you to spend the $10,000?

Dont get the wrong idea here... it was - Shag: Last of the Plains Buffalo, by Robert M. McClung. It's a super book... only when I got older did I realize how silly the title sounded. I read it a zillion times.

20. What is your all time favorite (clean) joke?
Well, I don't have a favorite, but I looked one up for this special occasion:

A man was driving along the highway, and saw a rabbit hopping across the middle of the road. He swerved, but unfortunately the rabbit jumped in front of the car and was hit. The driver, being a sensitive man, pulled over to the side of the road and got out to see what had become of the rabbit. Much to his dismay, the rabbit was dead. The driver felt so awful he began to cry.

A woman driving down the highway saw the man crying on the side of the road and pulled over. She stepped out of her car and asked the man what was wrong.

"I feel terrible," he explained. "I accidentally hit this rabbit and killed it." The woman told the man not to worry. She knew what to do. She went to he car trunk and pulled out a spray can. She walked over to the limp, dead rabbit, and sprayed the contents of the can onto the rabbit.

Miraculously, the rabbit came to life, jumped up, waved its paw at the two humans and hopped down the road. 50 meters away the rabbit stopped, turned around, waved at the two again, hopped down the road another 50 meters, turned, waved, and hopped another 50 meters.

The man was astonished. He couldn't figure out what substance could be in the woman's spray can! He ran over to the woman and demanded, " What was in your spray can? What did you spray onto that rabbit?" The woman turned the can around so that the man could read the label. It said:

" 'Hare Spray' Restores Life to Dead Hare. Adds Permanent Wave."

(From SpinningHead) Mine threw me threw a basketball hoop to see if I'd go through.

Oh, for heaven's sake, Pinkie Pie and SpinningHead!

When I was 16, my youngest brother, 12 at the time, ran a tape recorder microphone cord up the liner of drapery I used to hide behind to talk to my friends on the phone. After one particularly long phone conversation, I heard the tape recorder click off and found the microphone pinned inside the liner. I also heard my brother snickering from the other side of the drapery. When I confronted him, he cackled, "Five bucks erases it!"

He got his $5. I was just grateful it wasn't more... ;)

No need to say thanx BAR... *blush*

I just thought considering how 'heavy' and 'heated' things can get here ... and when we remember what we have ALL been thru it is hardly surprizing that there are often 'raw nerves' and 'sore points'... that it might be a good idea to have a thread or two that was 'just for fun'...

I dunno... sometimes a larf at ourselves and with our friends is more healing than anything else...

Just glad that others have enjoyed the thread as much as I have...
