Voyagers comments have made me wonder, What is the mission statement for this Forum? The top of the page says Christian Recovery Forums. So what is the forums definition of the word "Christian"?.

I think that the forum has taken a position of not defining "what" a Christian us, but rather has opened the doors to anyone that has experienced spiritual abuse in church and has come to dialogue and have community.
I could be wrong, and Jerry may "weigh in" from a moderator's perspective, but I think that making a definition could be injurious to the inclusiveness that is afforded here-i.e. many people's definition of what a Christian is is different, and as soon as it is defined, certain people/groups would be necessarily excluded.
Just my perspective,

Thanks, Jerry, for your reply to this question. I'm aware of my thinking being challenged by this forum--thank you--as well as the 12 Step meetings that I attend. I prefer being challenged in this non-threatening way. It allows me time to examine why I'm feeling the way I am. Then, I am better equipped to make an informed decision. As we say in the 12 Step meeting, "Take what you like and leave the rest." I'm reading more posts which, for me, are an extension of the 12 Step meetings. I allow myself the time to chew on what I've read. Sometimes I reply. I now have choices. I didn't know that; not to the degree that I understand now. I'll keep coming back.
May you have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Historically before we moved over to Christian Recovery, members self defined their "higher power". I am sure that point of reference still stands.

Thank you all for helping to answer my question.
I think it may have been a bit less confusing for some people (Clemintine) if we would have moved to "Higher Power Recovery". Because I think the name as it now stands leads people to believe that everyone here is trying to follow Christ. That's what I believed and I could have very easily offended someone here, by assuming they were also trying to following Jesus.
But I think I have a better understanding now. It's "Christian" like we live in a "Christian" Nation.
Again thanks for your help:)
