Unless I am blessed with a home to go to, it will be a quiet day in the Shep Howard household. Wife and the cats just do not seem to get too excited around the holidays. No manic need for Play Station 3. BTW, the pastor did not mention it his sermons this weekend. Pity.

For those who are having difficulty. I will check in from Thursday to Sunday. If you need anything, send up a post. The forum usually gets busy around 1900-2400 GMT-6 on Thursday.

Don't get gobbled up by the holiday and surviving is as easy as 3.14.

Thanks ex-shep. It's always kind of you that you stay around here on most holidays.

Glad to know others recognize the stress of the holiday. None of my kids are coming home this year because our son who is a heroin addict has caused so much pain and dissention the last two years during family get-togethers. I need to find new traditions for these holidays. I'm used to being the super cook for a big rowdy crowd. I don't want to wallow in self pity. Change is hard. And the holidays have always been a bit difficult because for drunks it's a real free day. And I grew up in a house full of addicts.

Church was crappy this am. I'm kinda holdin' out there to see if the new pastor will be a gem. But for now I am hyper critical of everything at church. I feel like it's a big show. All business and manipuation for money and control. I'm sure my view is tainted by the recent PAINFUL!!!! experiences at our church. I guess I should be thankful the denomomination acted quickly to remove our adulterous and un-repentive pastor.

Also I found out our church actually paid money to bail a member out of jail several times in the past. The member is back in jail this weekend for domestic violence and his wife got drunk and ran her car into the church sanctuary on accident last week. No injuries but their 3 kids have been taken out of the home. I'm angry that the church bailed this guy out in the past. I think that was real enabling behavior. With my tithe money!!!! I'm praying for the kid's: Alecia, Mat and Daniel they were at church today and they looked like kid's from a war zone. They had kinda blank stares.

I'll be by myself, so hope to spend some of the time playing "catch-up" here...if possible. See my post for Tim on NACR if interested in something of the particulars of our saga. Difficult/CHALLENGING times. Your continuing prayers appreciated, as I will be praying for you and yours as well. How is your wife's job going? HOW ARE YOU???? Still OK with your new situation? Hope so!!!

Grace and peace--
