Though it's nearly a week away, this was pretty good, so thought I'd go ahead and post it.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING, BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP

I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS, I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.

THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED - THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE

BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT

TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION

THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.

SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.

I GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES, PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES.

I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,
'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND.

I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE.

BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES....
HAPPY EATING TO ALL - PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE.

MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY, MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP.
MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS, MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE,
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS.

My step-son and I were listening to an interview with a middle-eastern man today, with a complicated accent, and everytime he talked about the country Turkey he said it "Torkey." After two or three times, we couldn't help it--we were cracking up so hard that we swore Thanksgiving torkey will never be the same. :D

Happy Thanksgiving,

It's done! I am officially suffering the effects of the "After" Thanksgiving.

We had 10 people here yesterday - 2 Americans, 1 "experienced" Norwegian and 7 inexperienced curious Norwegians. So there we were 8 vikings pretending to be in America for some hours. We 2 Americans pulled it off - even if one of us was blind!

Hannah's food was delicious and even if she is blind she managed to make tasty looking food. No one had ever tasted green bean casserole - or candied sweet potatoes, bread stuffing or pumpkin pie! They were hilarious as they tasted the American specialties. The most dangerous thing to taste was - "pumpkin pie!" They do not generally eat pumpkin here and when they do it is made pickled and tastes awful. Hence to have someone foist it sweet in a dessert raised some eyebrows. Forks were raised very tentatively but the exclamations were fun after they tasted it.

The high point of the day? When the blind couple held the one week old baby iin their arms "seeing" her with their hands and then sharing their deep desire to have a child of their own and their fears of what to do about that. There were tears flowing all around.

God was present with us in wonderful ways. Steinar prayed an amazing prayer . He invited the Father to come and enjoy himself at our meal as he did when here on Earth so often with his friends eating and drinking wine. Each person in turn thanked Father for something of the past year and the tone was set! The wine flowed, the women fussed around and ooohed and ahhed and the men laughed and told jokes and the day was a memory to cherish for all of us.

Love
Anna Marta

IN case you're interested - what did my blind friend prepare for our dinner?

Green bean casserole, fruit salad, apple pie, vegetables and dip appetizer as well as celery, raisin and peanut salad. You could say she made half the meal. AND set it up on the buffet table and served it!!! Amazing!

I LOVE Thanksgiving! (Yes, I know I'm Australian - but I love it.) Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I LOVE pumpkin pie Anna Marta!!!! I make it quite often and it's a real American recipe (I grew up on the mission field and knew lots of Americans).
I think I'll make it this week. :)
Yummmmmm....

I'm having a helluva time being thankful this thanksgiving... although I have a ton of stuff to give thanks for.

I wish the holidays and the anniversary of mom's death would all just float away. I wanna hibernate, but can't coz Dad needs me.

((((((((((((Willow)))))))))

A bit of advice if I may...Don't Hibrenate!!!!!!!!! It totally makes it worse! After you get through the "hello" 's and "how are you" 's, it gets better. I totally beats sitting around the house alone and inside you own head, that is dangerous. And it will never be the same so start your own traditions now.;)

The In-Laws are coming!!

Jerry...sign me up for a barrel of your "og". Just sit me in a corner with a straw where I can sit on my hands, blow spit bubbles and sip myself into oblivion until January 2nd.
