I had been trying to get people interested in a German forum for spiritual abuse. I couldn't get a forum going by myself, have had enough problems just setting up a blog. But if a German forum could be set up within CRF just as the Spanish one has, I'd be happy to mod there and write a few things. My German isn't perfect when I write, still make small article and declination mistakes (typical English speaker thing), but I do read and understand it very well. What I write is quite understandable too.

Is that a future plan or option?

See German sample here (scroll down a bit, best viewed in IE, am fixing the Firefox problems this week):

I just spoke to another person on the phone, looking for German contacts for recovery. He first contacted me through my site, which has some pages in German. He has talked to persons at "Endlich Leben" but felt rejected there, they were not interested in helping him with recovery or in his quest to set up a Christian German recovery net. He is most interested in getting a forum going in German where recovery of all kinds could be discussed, like the Spanish one here. I told him that I had just suggested such a forum here. I have given him the web address of CRF, but he does not know very much English to ask for himself. He says that the demand for such a German forum is large, and that it would be worth the effort to set it up.

He was very helpful and has given me tips on how to convince publishers to translate and publish works on recovery in other languages, he has already done some legwork in Germany along those lines and has been successful.

Like I wrote before, a German forum would be too big for me to set up alone, but if it were a part of this forum I could moderate.

Any takers?

Hi Carmen--

Since you mentioned "Endlich Leben, " I presume this is the forum linked from the International Recovery Website -- i.e. http://www.endlich-leben.net/ Did you check with them directly? Perhaps a different approach--or knowing there were others interested in doing this who had expertise with the language--might open some doors for you there. Other than that, I'd suggest looking at the other resources on the main site--at http://www.christianrecovery.com./

An alternative approach might be to see if the Endlich Leben has a chat room and if any of those have enough English that they could join you here on the Spiritual Abuse forum. Some translation of some key posts here might be a way to offer German speakers some idea of what goes on here...i.e. to see if it would be worth their while to work past the language barrier. From there, you might create a larger network of people who share your interests. Perhaps???

Good for you for thinking of new ways to use your expertise and resources!

All the best--

Theodora
