Today is the 20th anniversary of my walking out of my group. It was November 11, 1984 that I walked out of the bible school and the shepherding discipleship movement.
I am both grateful and saddened.
I am grateful that I have a new freedom and a new hope. I am blessed with a wife and two cats. We have found a comforting supportive church which understands spiritual abuse. I am grateful for 18 years of 12 step recovery.
I am still heartbroken that I still have a dear friend who has been in since 1982. I have prayed for her freedom daily since I lost her in 1984. It was the loss that woke me up to what I was involved and to recognize that I had to leave my groups.
Any words of wisdom and encourage would be greatly appreciated.
