Hello - I'm new here

Hey everybody!

Glad to have found this website! It looks more positive than the ex-[denomination] website that I've been hanging at. (Plus we can have avatars here :D ).

I found this place thru that book, the subtle power of spiritual abuse. I had read it years ago and that helped me get out of the opressive home church we were a part of.

Anyway, I'm working on my testimony on how I got to where I am now, and I'm planning on posting it on my blog and perhaps to here as well so you can get to know me.

Welcome, Silent Enigma. I have taken a look around and think that this is by far the most civil forum on Spiritual Abuse. In some other places I have met up with or seen posts by those that are skeptical about even the most basic Christian beliefs at all, because they associate everything Christian with the spiritual abuse they were exposed to. Somehow I think that here all are working together to get back to being comfortable with God rather than working to get or stay away from him, while at the same time getting rid of the baggage of spiritual abuse. Just my take on things. Hope you like it here. :)

It's the first comprehensive testimony I've worked on. I've mentioned bits and pieces before in forums and emails to friends and such, but nothing like this. It's been long enough since we've left the old group that I feel collected enough to write it. It's almost done.

I like you avatar - it cracks me up. :D

I think this is a great forum, too... I've looked for others and at others and so many are either angry hate monger places, or ignore your problems all together and get on with it - way before you are ready to. This one you can really share where you are at, your anger, feelings, hurt, etc... but also, heal and get really great in-put and support.

Hope you find those same things here. :)

i dont know where i'd be without this place, im sure i wud be a total wreck and maybe even suicidal...this place has helped me to see things as they are and that its not my fault, athough im still feeling guilty most days! :o

I haven"t given up on God because of my SA. I am sorting out who the real GOd is.

I know for sure He isn"t Fundy.!!! It is hard to break away for that mind set for me. I am doing better. butterfly shirley

That has been my prayer for Tammy's group which I am now a member. I always pray we get as far as we can from the shepherding years, grow in maturity, and get it right this time. I think we have definitely gone the extra mile in that regard.
