Want to share what we are seeing God arranging.
Got a call from the wife of the couple in whose home we have been meeting for worship. She is friends with another young woman who is a worship leader, a forthright Australian. She shared their sense that something is wrong in this church. Also about her experiences of the pastor negating all their children's ministry plans after they had been made directors of children's ministry; and their disappointment that the promised half-time ass't pastor position never came to fruition.
The Australian gal decided to "confront" the pastor (without permission) about his actions concerning this couple. She called them afterwards in tears afraid that she had done something wrong. :(
A week later after church (this would be 2 weeks ago) the pastor confronted this couple! I am pretty certain that confrontation did not go at all the way he imagined it would. This couple did not back down. In fact, they asked direct questions and refused his dancing around the issue kind of answers. It culminated with them looking him in the eye and telling him they have seen there is something seriously wrong in this church and that they are praying for him and for the church and believe God will bring the truth to light. He looked worried they said. Then they left! ;)
The best part for me, is that those of us who are speaking up have checked out emotionally.:D But we have not sent in resignation papers - so what we say has to be dealt with. The pastor is unable to hurt us because we no longer accept his authority. We are not the least afraid of his potential accusations or backlash. When we dealt with our fears of rejection that may come from people in congregation or leadership - they no longer have any power over us. We aren't looking for another church so there is no one they can gossip to in the area. It is good to be able to remove their option to threaten and thus see them robbed of their power. We simply do not need them nor their acceptance and broke their control over us.
That is freedom! :D
Keep us in your prayers as we STAND against the enemy of the church... who is not a person, but who is using people. Until enough of us walk and refuse to give our money or our support these abusive places will continue.
Do I think our "little drop in the bucket" will make a difference? I don't know, but then Rosa Parks was no great person when she refused to sit in the back of the bus either! :D :D :D
