Help me write a book

Hi everyone,

I wrote this at the bottom of the 'British Christians - spiritual abuse' thread, but I actually think it deserves a thread of its own.

I feel that God wants me to compile a book of peoples experiences of spiritual abuse and cult-like churches, in order to clarify to the Christian world what spiritual abuse is, and what the Christian community can do about it.

If you refer to the thread mentioned above, I have given a small example of an experience I had whilst attending an abusive church. As you can see, it is not a particularly traumatic incident, but was awkward and distressing for me nonetheless, and I think it shows some of the subtler power dynamics involved in such churches leadership.

I want to particularly focus on the spiritual, mind-control and brainwashing elements of the abuse and although I am aware that other forms of abuse occur within churches, I am not looking to write about these (for example sexual or physical abuse)

All names and places will be changed to protect identities - however I am happy to include the authors name on an acknowledgement list if you so desire.

Yes it was an accident me posting twice - not actually sure how it happened as I'm sure I only posted once!! :)

Re royalties - you're having a laugh arent you?! Its gonna be submitted as a journal article initially (maybe a book if I get enough stories!) so I wont even get royalties!! ;) :)

Yes, I was having a laugh! :D Let's face it....I'm funnnnnny! :D

After what we went through in our SA ordeal...I feel like my story could be a book in and of itself regarding the mishandling of building funds and the unqualified building committees that that love their funds! and love to give big huge engineering projects to their "buddies" (who were so unqualified you wouldn't let them install your toilet!)

I have a true cult life history which caused PTSD. I am in therapy,meds and deep spiritual searching in my soul. I was told by my therapist and many other people I should write a book. However, it take a long time to get all my info. I am still facing hauntings & nightmares. When I come to the place of healing {which I'm not} THEN I can share my story. It took me a long time to come to reality of it myself.

I understand completely there is times I have to joke to get through some difficult moments. Laughter :D is healing to the soul and body we all need it in our lives...Thank you for the welcome!!

The abuse that was done is going to take years to recover from. I can just SENSE this. Perhaps these seasoned vets of SA can be of help, but im still in the "when is the divine lightning going to strike" mode. But i could write a book. I used to think that my varied life experiences were cool and stuff. Stranger than fiction. Now I just want PEACE!

The SA that happened to you didn't happen overnight (I'm guessing). Healing is going to happen overnight either. There's a lot a person needs to process and come to terms with.

I'm still waiting for that divine lightning! While I was at the drugstore last week, I ran into one of the major players involved in the SA that happened to us. It was the first time I saw him in almost a year. There was no lightning...there wasn't even a cloud cough. But there he was.

Well, Thank God SH, that I was only there 9 months! Im betting that some folks here may have been victimized longer.

Yep, divine lightning. I used to love thunderstorms! Not no more!
