My husband stopped in to our church this a.m. and picked up a bulletin from the morning's services. (For those of you unfamiliar with a bulletin, it has announcements, calendar info, etc.). In large print on the inside cover was a list of four items that the leadership apparently thinks people in the congregation should be searching their hearts about. I have since thrown away the bulletin, and I don't even remember points 1, 3, or 4, but point 2 is seared into my brain. Point #2 said this: "How would Jesus view your arguing and complaining?"
Now, I know that there are all kinds of "arguements" against "arguing and complaining", but knowing the leadership the way I do, I am convinced that this is their way of squelching any "arguing and complaining" that is going on - even if the "arguing and complaining" are actually legitimate questions being asked and concerns being expressed. They must be getting lots of what I am sure are "questions and concerns" and it's making them nervous enough that they feel they must put a stop to it ASAP.
I wouldn't be surprised if they are hearing sermons along the same lines as well. Can't have anyone disagreeing with the CEO and his little band of merry "yes" men. Grrrrrrr!!!!!
