Saw the oncologist from today. He did another exam & biopsy.
My obgyn said my cancer was micro invasive. This doc explained that
microinvasive is less then or equal to 3mm growing into the cervix. He suspects
that mine is a little more invasive then 3mm but still basically contained.
He put a rush on the biopsy results, and as soon as they come back i need to get
a pet scan. This is a more sensitve test to pick up the cancer.
I have a tentative surgery date set for Thurs. Aug. 3, 2006.
I will be having a radical hysterectomy (everything removed including some lymph
nodes) and possibly radiation & chemo.
Estimated time in the hospital is 2 - 3 days. Estimated recovery period
afterwards is 6 -8 weeks.
I REALLY like this doctor and his staff!! They are incredible! Genuine people
who care. Guess that's why I had so much trouble with the other hospital. God didn't want me there.:o
Thanks all, for your continued prayers!!!
Love yas!

This is GREAT NEWS! Well... it could be better news... but in the face of what you have been going through... it's GREAT NEWS!
Sure do feel for you. You will pull through this. Hey.. maybe the hysterectomy will help you in some ways besides getting rid of cancer... think?
Holding you tightly.

FYI (and for those who haven't any idea), a PET scan pretty much measures metabolic activity, which will be higher in rapidly dividing cancer cells than in surrounding tissue. In theory, it will help give them a better picture of where those little buggers are hiding.
I *really* like the way this new onc is acting. Andrew's psych eval is Aug 3. That is only three weeks away... your new onc isn't letting this wait one moment longer than necessary. Good.
Prayers continue ascending! ^^^

I'm so glad to hear they're putting a rush on it and taking care of you in a manner that definitely comports with "the standard of care." Having worked in the field of medical malpractice on the plaintiffs' side for so long, I had a wee bit of a bad feeling about that other place you were dealing with. What you've told us here today that they're doing for you is great. They're definitely covering all the bases and you'll get what you need. It seems like a nice fit, you and them... Was your husband satisfied, too?
The Lord will bring you through this; it'll have a beginning (right now), a middle (the surgery and follow-up) and a happy ending (complete recovery)... :) I certain of it, Janice... Just rest up and treat yourself well between now and Aug. 3, okay?
Love,
mary

Hubby says he was satisfied but..it's so hard with him. he just doesn't want to talk about any of it. Wants to deal with it his way he says. That's fine but I asked him to please not isolate. i've been there and it is not a good place to go!

TRYING to rest but I get so bored! You know me. I HAVE to be doing something all the time. (must be the mania part of my bipolar disorder). I am on my third load of laundy but AM resting in between. Hey..it's 9:23 am and I am STILL in my jammies!!!

**hugs**
Thanks for the compliment. I know nurses - I have nurses in my family AND my husband's family - and I could never do what they do. I went to medical school out of college and couldn't continue because of multiple health problems, so the Lord decided to pull me out ;) and I've been doing medical transcription since 1994. Because I transcribe a lot of radiology, I've gotten familiar with the different modalities - and I've gotten to know which ones we can do at our facility and which ones we have to send folks out for. We don't do PET here. But it can be a very useful modality, especially in cases like yours, where knowing where the activity is can help surgical decision-making.
Courage, dear heart!
