Here's a post I saved on the old forum when some of us where having a spat.

>>I was a little angry after P bashed my post, calling it all "psychobabble" and telling me to stick to the Bible. I may be healing and getting out of depression by finally dealing with the real issues, but I still get triggered by religious condemnation. Sorry if it offended you.

Hi J & P,

I have come to believe that it's not so much a matter of who's right but what's right!

What's right is you're both right to a limited extent. I understand J's anger when P used the term "psychobabble". It's like the word "religious". Both words send triggers off in different directions.

Personally, an umbrella term such as "psychobabble" is offensive to those who know what has helped them and thousands of other people. Some of the best of these proponents of "psychobabble" have often given people the "missing ingredient" to their healing and recovery.
So one cannot discount their work in these areas as "psychobabble".

Now, on the other hand, Jesus had a wonderful way of explaining things to people using terms and words about things that were real to his audience that they could relate to. He used parables that were difficult to understand by many. Yet when the explanation came, they were so clearly understood. He always had a Divine purpose in concealing yet revealing to meanings to his disciples.

We need to learn here from one another going through this experience of Spiritual Abuse. This is not a place to start to intentionally trigger one another. It should be a place we can vent and heal. We are all supersensitive to a host of triggers. Let's be patient with one another.

OK I must quote some scripture because it is a source of my healing but NOT the ONLY source. It may be for some, but I would guess not for many of us. Personally, I also needed help from those I came to recognize as immensely qualified to deal with trauma & the psychosis that stems from many sources. Spiritual abuse being one of the newer ones. Dr. Henry Cloud & John Townsend are two of the finest that I have come to know and a couple of their books plus their other resources have helped me immensely. I need BOTH the Bible and the "psychobabble" these two men have provided me. It's not one or the other. It's BOTH.

I try to keep an open mind and pray our God will lead me into all truth. It's the Truth that sets us FREE.

So here come the basic scriptures that we all need to apply when we post here.

Joh 13:34 I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. As I have loved you, you should also love one another

Joh 13:35 By this all shall know that you are My disciples, if you have love toward one another

Joh 15:12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

Joh 15:17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

Ro 12:10 in brotherly love to one another, loving fervently, having led one another in honor.

Ro 13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Ga 5:13¶ For, brothers, you were called to liberty. Only do not use the liberty for an opening to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Ga 5:14 For all the Law is fulfilled in one word, [even] in this, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

Eph 4:2¶ with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love,

1Th 3:12 And may the Lord make you to increase and abound in love toward one another and toward all, even as we do toward you,

1Th 4:9¶ But regarding brotherly love, you do not need that I write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another.

2Th 1:3 We are bound to thank God always for you, my brothers, as it is right, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of each one of you abounds toward one another;

Heb 10:24 and let us consider one another to provoke to love and to good works,

James 2:8 ¶ If you fulfill the ROYAL LAW according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well.

1Pe 1:22 Purifying your souls in the obedience of the truth through the Spirit to unfeigned love of the brothers, love one another fervently out of a pure heart,

1Jo 3:11¶ For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another;

1Jo 3:23¶ And this is His commandment, that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

1Jo 4:7¶ Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone who loves has been born of God, and knows God.

1Jo 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

1Jo 4:12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and His love is perfected in us.

2Jo 1:5¶ And now I beseech you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

I think we can do that. It's the essence of our relationship here. It's the glue that binds us together. Our main general rule here should always be:

Gal 6:2 Bear one another's burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ.

1John 3:23 ¶ And this is His commandment, that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

So, in future our postings need to reflect that love we have for one another.

Eph 4:15 But that you, speaking the truth in love, may in all things grow up to Him who is the Head, [even] Christ;

John 13:35 By this all shall know that you are My disciples, if you have love toward one another.

OK, I'm off my soap box. :D
