There is an alternate way of chatting through your web browser if you have java. Only type in a nickname in the log in form... no email.

I tried! But didn't fully connect. I logged in and could see messages, but couldn't post anything.
I use Opera as my browser of choice so that might be the reason. It doesn't always work like Internet Explorer.

Thanks for coming back ...... I'm having trouble getting into the chatroom. Trying to work it out. I can get to the site but can't seem to connect. Maybe Java? How do I know if it is installed as a brouser?

Yes, I do know much about computers, just how to get my work out as long as there are no problems.

You have to change the name of the room to be #spiritualabuse and write your nickname instead of webuser.

They say it's a better web chat with more features.

i downloaded the irc how do i use it? The java takes about 2 - 3 min to load

I don't know exactly how to use mIRC. I use something called SNAK for macintosh computers. I did find the instructions on the mirc web site that might be a little clearer.

I have the same problem. I downloaded it, buthten they tod me register and pay $20. Java is the only way I can get there.

I'm using the mirc software on a 30 day trial. I'm sure that you could too, if you would want to. If I remember right, you only need to pay the $20 once and you can get upgrades as they're availabe for life.

That's not really too bad when you consider how much some software costs. Still - java works and that's what matters.

I didn't pay it, I;m on the 30 day trial. I can see my husband's face now when I tell him I need $20 to chat! Hahahaha, yeah that won't happen.

I don't want to pay for something I can do for free anyway.;)

I got it to work.

I don't know exactly what I needed to do. The channel didn't come up when I used the "list channels" command, so I typed it in.

At this point, I have to leave the chat/forum mode and get some work done. I'll try again later :)

Just tried it. First time on a chat room. Right now, don't have much time to chat. Just wanted to see how it works. Looks like only one other person on now.

I had the same experience today - checked in twice, once in the moring and once this afternoon and no one was there either time except the sysops (system operator.)
Maybe we need to poll everyone to see what time of day is most convenient.

The server is starlink-irc.org and the channel is #spiritualabuse. You can manually join the channel by typing /join #spiritualabuse if you use mirc or java... me thinks

LOL...I can show up at anytime. My schedule is so "irregular" :D

I got there alot but usually there's no one there also. We DID manage to have a good "chat" on Mon though. There was several there.
