Yesterday I did something I had not done in about 15 years. I taught an adult Sunday school class. I was a sub for the regular teacher who was away for the holiday.

We've been at this church for a little over two years. The last time I taught an adult SS class was about 15 years ago in our former abusive church. The leadership of that church kept a pretty tight handle on the teaching opportunities; the vast majority of teaching in the SS was done by themselves. The way the SS program was organized did not lend itself to offering much opportunity for others.

I feel like I'm finally starting to make up for some lost time and lost opportunites, and wanted to share that with you....

Old Ent:
Thank you so much for sharing. I am so glad someone is healing and not in stuck mode. This really is very encouraging and I am so glad you shared. Thanks so much.

Dear Old Ent,

I truly wish I could have been at your class. I'm sure you did a great job, showering grace along the way. I have a picture of an ent (Hildebrandt Bros.) on my wall... is that what you look like? Scary SS teacher. Good thing it was an ADULT class...

Congratulations; they are lucky to have you taking steps with them.

Love, Hol

Dear Old Ent,,,,,,
From what you describe in your post, the oppressive controll aspect, puts me in mind of another SS organization,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but then that SS didn't have much to do with religion....
