The book has been out just a few weeks or so.

They are promoting it at Cultwatch, apparently the director wrote it to reveal the methods used by apostolic/prophetic type churches. They have a lot on their site about the phenomenon. http://www.cultwatch.com/. The book is promoted at: http://www.kingdomlost.com/index.aspx.

It sounds interesting, I may add it to my wish list.

Wow... this is exactly the trend that concerns me most in the church. Kudos to the author!!! Thanks for showing us Carmen.

I want to read it!!! Since I was in a "church" where the "pastor" proclaimed himself an "apostle", I could relate. Cultwatch was actually one of the websites that opened my eyes to the truth of what we were a part of.

I checked into it and found out that it would cost $42.95 (24.95 for the book and 18.00 for shipping to the US). That's in New Zealand dollars. I don't know what the exchange rate between the US and New Zealand is.

Thanks for the tip, Carmen.

I just looked up the exchange rate for anyone who would be interested. $42.95 New Zealand dollars exchanges into $29.27 American dollars.

Thanks for the info. Found it interesting this book is available through mainstream Christian distrubutors. Found the endorsement by an AG pastor also interesting, as many the "cult quotes" cautioned in the ad do come from A.G. related ministries. Plan to get this one.

Sound like a must give it a look see. One of Tammy churches bought into the Alpha Course. A curscory internet search set off alarm bells and lights. I checked the website of the denomination and only church is actively promoting it. Thankfully the denomination has been virulently anti-charismatic, so I am not going to loose sleep over it.

Websites certainly describe the shepherding movement.

While out shopping today, went to a local Christian book store and asked about the book. They didn't have a clue. Is it going to be distributed here in America? Guess I may have to order it.

On the site promoting the book they say they are relying on word-of-mouth (and internet w-o-m) to promote the book. That is why the stores probably don't know about it. I'd give them the site address and see if they want to send the address to colleagues by w-o-m.

My bet is it won't be such a hit as LaHaye's Left Behind series anyway, because it speaks out against what the churches that promoted LB preach. A few of those kooky pastors will read it and tell the others to be hush-hush about it, I guess. All the more reason to promote it, I would think.

I put a link to those guys on my SA page - through Cultwatch - but the site isn't working at this instant, am getting a few bugs ironed out, want to put RSS feed on a few other pages. Stuff like that never works instantly.
