I have no idea if I'm supposed to put a TW here if I talk about drugs---so if I am--be warned.

In a previous thread I talked about the trouble I was having with the depression, anxiety and medication side effects. Just wanted to give you an update.

My supervisor was nice about things when I talked to her, although I hate that she knows anything---and she had to tell her assistant who is in charge when she is gone (who is someone I don't like much). Anyway, she is giving me some breathing room on my work load for awhile and if things take too long, she will have me come back into the office to work (I work at home--and yes, I do it in my PJs) and she will give me some projects to work on that don't require meeting production standards. So I don't feel in any danger of losing my job, just not excited about working in the office again and people at work knowing anything.

As for the meds--I warned the shrink when he put me on Inderal (usually prescribed to lower blood pressure) to offset side effects of something else, that I tend to have low blood pressure. When I saw him two weeks ago, I told him I had tried to take my blood pressure and couldn't get it to register. Finally, when it did register it was only 80/40. He said "No wonder you don't feel good, we've got you in hibernation!". So stopped everything but the antidepressant and then he put me on (of all things) SPEED. I'm such a naive person when it comes to drugs, I didn't even know what that actually was. Found out it's amphetamines!! :D :D Yeah--I might even lose some weight. I actually do feel much better--a little energy and I don't feel dizzy all the time. Definitely an improvement.

Today was my first day of normal work since my vacation over Christmas and I actually made my production! I'm more focused and my hands aren't shaking all over the keyboard. If that keeps up, I won't have to go back to the office!

All in all, I feel a lot better. Only problem is now I found out the antidepressant costs $600 a month so I'll hit my insurance max after about 4 months, so I'm going to have to ask him to change that. I think I'll stay on the speed, though. I could get to like this.:D :D

Thanks, thats a lot cheaper. My husband takes some expensive stuff, too, so I'lll have to add it all up. Great idea, though.

Sorry to hear things haven't been so great ,BUT pleased to further read that
"speed" is helping you.......:D
I could not believe the cost of meds when I lived in the States.
Randy had to have surgery and take long term anti biotics for a while and I nearly dropped to the floor when I went to pay the billls!!!
naive` ,?? Yep , that was me.
I thought it was like here.
( It was ONE of the reasons we chose to move to Australia after 15 months living in Texas)
Public hospital is free here.
Medications are subsidised, so 'fixed incomers' (pensioners) pay $ 3.60 per prescription, and regular income earners pay a reduced amount, and once anyone hits (including a family), $500, or $600 per annum in medications you get a "safety Net" card which allows you free medication until the New year , and you start over again!!!
I mean we pay higher taxes for it, not just our income tax, sales tax , goods and services taxes etc.....but over all I think our health care system is pretty darn good!;)
Hopefully you'll be grinning more and more..........
Blessings and love,
Kerrin;)

Kerrin... question... how did you get connected to be able to live in Australia? Is either you or hubby a native there? I thought I might like to try living in another country at times. Not sure why, but I think it has something to do with all the commercialization and fashion hubbub in our country. I'm no fashion queen... don't drive the latest and greatest... can't keep up with the Joneses. A comment by a visiting Aussie caught me once... he commented on how "shiney" everyone looked here in our country. Don't get me wrong... I like to look nice, but every hair in place is not me. I like to ride em hard and put em up wet sometimes. Don't go over too well in the professional world.

They gave you speed? Oh my. . .where's your doc. . . I have been feeling a bit tired and could use a little help from some "friends".:D

I experienced the same side effects from Inderal. Blood pressure went too low and felt awful. Was so stupid about the effects of drugs that I didn't, for a much too long time, connect that my problem was connected with Inderal causing my blood pressure to go too low.

Will be in prayer for your physical to get into balance. That can be a rough battle.

There was a song, I think back in the 60's something about.."she goes running for the shelter of mother's little helper.." anyone remember that?

LOL..speaking of which....BRB

...certainly I did! Re Kerrin's "connections," she was indeed fortunate to be BORN an Australian...married her first hubby, an American, and then lived in Texas for a while. Her previous posts have shared something of a rather painful saga. (Do a search on her name, if interested.)

Not to "take words out of her mouth!" I hope/trust Kerrin will be here to respond to you "in person," but with new obligations to take care of in the new year, I thought it might be possible that she might miss this question and I didn't want to leave it "hanging!"

Grace and peace--

Theodora

P.S. Know that you don't necessarily need to move out of the U.S. to find a more "relaxed" atmosphere! My husband has been riding his bicycle to work in ALL kinds of weather for years now...changes in the restroom (if necessary) before working as a public service librarian. For whatever reason, they HAVE been able to "overlook" his "eccentricities," and continue to commend him for the very good WORK that he does!

Thanks for the update theo... I must have missed some of Kerrin's posts and feel a little sheepish about that! I had assumed she was native, but totally forgot that she'd lived in Texas for awhile.

Hey... kudos for your hubby!

This has been a rather "busy"/intense year for all of us, I think, and it's sometimes REALLY hard to keep up with all the activity on these boards! (And some of this info. might have been posted on NACR instead of this forum.)

And...thanks for you "kudos" for my hubby! ;) :D It's a good, HEALTHY interest he's maintained in bicycling all these years, and we're BOTH of us grateful that it's possible for him to do this.

Hope you have a good new year!!!

Peace to you and yours...

Theodora

Hi jjc,

Read about the speed, ha, ha! I don't have any experience with meds, but the added energy sounds good! I could use some of that, too. :D

JCC, The drug co. have a program to help low income people and other people who can"t afford the meds.
Look up the drug name and co. on the net. There should be information for programs. Even if you have health insurance and you only get so much from them it seems you still get help from the co.
The income allowed depends on how many are in your household.
This is for anyone who needs help. They don"t tell ya but it is there. My husband and I get our meds. free from the co. I found out thru my therpist and our MD. about the programs.
This is not only in N.H. it is the whole u.s. hope this will help you.
Some co. send the meds. to your DR office then you have to pick them up. Otheres send them to you home. I hope this helps you and otheres. Also ever drug store has their own price for meds. Check around for the cheaper. butterfly
