View Full Version : My christmas tree is surely evil!

I remember being in church when a few conservative people refused to have trees in their home because of their pagan connectedness.....

and my husband in those days that he was single would coin, Satan Claus....

I think that they are right:p

But not for their same reasons:D

I have my tree up and my SENSORY SEEKING son is making my life NUTS!

I am ready to take down the demon possessed tree!

The first day he took off all his clothes and was trying to climb the prickly branches:eek:

Every ornament has come off of the tree- some thrown, some become "guys" and he plays with them like toys.... he has batted the balls with paper towel rolls- playing baseball with crystal memoirs of my wedding:eek:

The musical lights make him dance and go buggy, putting him in a looney trance!

the damned tree!

I spend most of my day yelling, "Caleb stop climbing the christmas tree"

"Caleb stop playing in that tree!"

Next year I am getting a palm tree with no branches except the VERY top!

Just venting on another day in the life of a sensory kid!

I wouldn't change having a tree in my home for the world......
and look forward to the day when all of his therapy finally works and he can enjoy the christmas season without becoming a PART of it literally!

Aw - Christmas is such a stressful season!

I don't have a tree yet because I don't know where to put it!

But when I do get it, we will have several cats batting anything that hangs off the lower branches, and climbing to figure out how the lights work.

Merry merry!

Jane, I had to laugh in spite of myself. A kid is a lot worse than a cat if he must climb the tree. I'd keep the treasured ornaments in their boxes till he is grown. Just put the el-cheapos out or make some. One Christmas my mom made lots of bows out of ribbon and put them on the branches, especially the lower ones. The dog (a big one) would knock the glass ones off with her tail otherwise.

.....be sure to remember to save these for your "memoirs!!!" ;)

Given your son's "adventuresome spirit," you might enjoy looking at the site I referenced in a previous post on NACR re "Tree decorating 101" aka "A Cat's Christmas".... REALLY cute pictures and narrative at http://www.fluffytails.ca/christmas.asp (Probably best not to let your son view the pictures, however, lest HE get some more ideas!)

Hang in there!

Love and prayers--

Theodora

My wife put a small tree in the exercise room and helped our 6 year old grand daughter decorate it with family picture "ornaments" and gold bows.
Last night we had a family sing along and another (3 yrs.) grand daughter took all the ornaments off the tree. They appear to be stacked under the tree like presents. :0)

I hope everyone has a good Christmas.
