Ok guys,
I'm asking for prayer.........sorry if that triggers anyone.......... I'm going in tomorrow, Tuesday, morning at 9am central time to resign. Do not yet have another job lined up but.. Me and the Mrs. feel like NOW is the time. So we are taking a faith step out onto the water.
I want to say thank you so much to all the members of this forum. You have given me wisdom and a listening ear and most of all the knowing that I'm not crazy. I will keep you posted.
So, please remember me before the Good Shepherd as you chat with HIM.
Blessings,
BG

Hi baldguy,
My heart goes out to you.
When you mentioned your step of faith out onto the water, I wanted to remind you of the part of the story that I find most often overlooked.
I love the fact that Peter goes fully in whichever direction he goes, and when he hits a wall, or starts to sink, he goes fully in the opposite direction. Peter went out onto the water knowing that if it was Jesus who called him, he would be able to walk on it.
How many times have you been preached at about how he "took his eyes off Jesus"?
The story didn't end there, and the next part is the best. When Peter found himself sinking, he cried out for help! He didn't wait until he was fully submerged, he saw his need and declared it! And Jesus was immediately there to pull him up. He didn't rebuke him first, and wait for Peter to be "really sorry" before He saved him. I don't believe Jesus rebuked him at all. I believe that Jesus chided him or teased him about his lack of faith.
The lesson here isn't to stop looking at the waves, and look to Jesus to reinflate your faith so that you can keep walking. The lesson is that when you DO (and we all do), loose sight of our Lord, cry out for help, and He'll be there. He will pick you up first, and correct you later (only if necessary), and love you all the way through.
I pray that you feel God's presence as you step out in faith to do what He has called you to do. If you find yourself sinking - just cry out - He won't let you drown.

Be prepared to get demonized by the pastor BG. It happens every time without fail. He will try to turn the congregation against you. He will drag out any dirty laundry he can get on you and parade it before the church.

I'll keep you in my prayers, dude! Remember that Jesus is interceding for you, too, and he knows you by name. Hebrews 7:25, Romans 8:34, John 10:3.

baldguy,
I will pray for you. While taking a stand is right, I am honestly concerned for you because I know the vortex of violence (emotionally, spiritually) you are about to be thrust into. I pray that God will hold you close as you face the betrayal and rejection of those who claim to love you.
I'm sorry if this seems negative instead of supportive. That isn't my intent. I just hate seeing good people put through the church political wringer.

If they do? Well, not much one can do to change their minds and why bother. The major reason there was a mass exodus out of Tammy's group 15-20 years ago was the banging one's against the wall trying to reason with the leadership. I am certainly not an advocate of throwing pearls before swine.
Yeah, I am a slanderer of the bretheren and an agent of satan. I have been consigned to Satan for the destruction of my flesh because I do not have my eyes on Jesus. Been there, seen it, done that, and got the T-shirt.
I have learned in Al Anon that I not responsible for what others think of me. I am powerless. If they think I am no good polka band leader and mother sells Slim Whitman records in the black market, there is not much I can do about it.
