At the moment, my family concerns are "on hold." Our younger son, a Marine of 2-years-standing is now back on base with his wife in Calif. after being deployed to Iraq in the spring and summer. We hope to see them at Christmas. Unfortunately, he's already scheduled to be re-deployed to Iraq in Jan.---so we're doing what we can to stay focused on the present and to look toward doing what we can to make this Christmas as special as possible.
Our older son...siiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.....will be dealing with the consequences of "poor choices" soon and has his court appearance for a second DWI the beginning of Nov. (prayers appreciated)...but, his employer hasn't fired him, so we're holding to the hope that this will be the "reality check" that he needs and that he will be able to find a way to make a better life for himself.
NOT what I would have wanted for either son....but, I've been too ill to be able to afford "stewing" about things too much.
However....possible "venting" ahead. It's HARD to disengage from all the "what-if's" of parenting and to know when "good intentions" have become "co-dependency."
Still learning.....I hope!
