When I was growing up, we attended "the Third Congregational Church". It was a local church with a small group that had been here since probably the early settlers of New England.
We went to sunday school every sunday. We attended the youth group when we were old enough. I have really good, safe, secure memories of learning about Jesus.
We sang in the choir and took turns running the service for CHildren's Sunday.
I want the same thing for my children. That is learning about the Love from Jesus, the cute bible stories.
Later in my adolescence my family converted to AoG. From then on in, I have never felt the peace of Jesus as I had when I was a young child.
Well, Today, on my son's field trip, I met another parent. She is a child that attended that small congregational church. She still attends. Her son is my son's age. (my 5 year old).
So, now I am thinking about attending.
Maybe.
Not sure if I am ready to give up my Sunday mornings with my family.
But man, I would love for my children to learn about a loving God.
The problem??? I am still conditioned by the former churches that this church is a "dead" church because you don't hear about end times or the wrath of God or the "spirit" in the way that the church we left understood things.
Maybe a dead church is a peaceful one....but I am still hanging on to a little fear that the "dead" church won't be the right one and my kids won't know salvation.
HUMPH. I think I am going to attend the little white church that I grew up in this weekend and hope that my children find a place to learn about the TRUE GOD.
