If I had to pick one for myself this would DEFINATELY be it!

Eagles - Desperado

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
You been out ridin' fences for so long now
Oh, you're a hard one
I know that you got your reasons
These things that are pleasin' you
Can hurt you somehow

Don' you draw the queen of diamonds, boy
She'll beat you if she's able
You know the queen of heats is always your best bet

Now it seems to me, some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones that you can't get

Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no youger
Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home
And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin'
Your prison is walking through this world all alone

Don't your feet get cold in the winter time?
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time from the day
You're loosin' all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away?

Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you, before it's too late

If all of us on this site started a Church,,,I bet the following would be our favorite Hymn,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
YOU'VE GOT A LOT OF NERVE TO SAY YOU ARE MY FRIEND
WHEN I WAS DOWN YOU JUST STOOD THERE GRINNEN
YOU'VE GOT A LOT OF NERVE TO SAY YOU GOT A HELPING HAND TO LEND
YOU JUST WANT TO BE ON THE SIDE THATS WINNING
YOU SEE ME ON THE STREET YOU ALWAYS ACT SUPRISED
YOU SAY HOW ARE YOU GOOD LUCK BUT YOU DON'T MEAN IT
WHEN YOU KNOW AS WELL AS ME,YOU'D RATHER SEE ME PARALIZED
WHY DON'T YOU COME OUT ONCE AND SCREAM IT
I DO NOT FEEL THAT GOOD TO SEE THE HEARTBREAK YOU EMBRACE
IF I WAS A MASTER THIEF PERHAPS I'D ROB THEM
I KNOW YOUR DISATISIFED WITH YOUR POSITION AND YOUR PLACE
DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND IT'S NOT MY PROBLEM
I WISH THAT FOR JUST ONE TIME YOU COULD STAND INSIDE MY SHOES
AND FOR THAT ONE MOMENT I COULD BE YOU
I WISH THAT JUST ONCE YOU COULD STAND INSIDE MY SHOES
YOU'D KNOW WHAT A DRAG IT IS TO SEE YOU
Bob Dylan
Man what a great song :D

Hmmm...

Anybody thought of Father & Son - Cat Stevens?

Father
It's not time to make a change,
Just relax, take it easy.
You're still young, that's your fault,
There's so much you have to know.
Find a girl, settle down,
If you want you can marry.
Look at me, I am old, but I'm happy.

I was once like you are now, and I know that it's not easy,
To be calm when you've found something going on.
But take your time, think a lot,
Why, think of everything you've got.
For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not.

Son
How can I try to explain, when I do he turns away again.
It's always been the same, same old story.
From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen.
Now there's a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.

Son
All the times that I cried, keeping all the things I knew inside,
It's hard, but it's harder to ignore it.
If they were right, I'd agree, but it's them you know not me.
Now there's a way and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.

My favorite right now is Resurrection by Nicol Sponberg

I'm at a loss for words
There's nothing to say
I sit in silence wondering what led me to this place
How did my heart become so lifeless and cold
Where did the passion go?

When all my efforts seem like chasing the wind
I've used up all my strength and there's nothing left to give
Ive lost the feeling and I'm numb to the core
I can't fake it anymore.

Here I am at the end
I'm in need of resurrection
Only You can take this empty shell
And raise it from the dead
What I've lost to the world
What seems far beyond redemption
You can take the pieces in Your hand
And make me whole again.

You speak and all creation falls to it's knees
You raise Your hand and calm the waves of the raging sea
You have a way of turning winter to spring
Make something beautiful out of all this suffering

Here I am once again
I'm in need of resurrection
Only You can take this empty shell
And raise it from the dead
What I've lost to the world
What seems far beyond redemption
You can take the pieces in Your hand
And make me whole again.

You have a way of turning winter to spring
Make something beautiful out of all this suffering

The words just seem to fit where I am right now.

Does anyone remember a song from the early 70's called "DOA"? I used to listen to that by the hour. (I think I may have been depressed and the time--ha-ha-ha). The song is about coming upon a car wreck and someone is DOA. REALLY depressing song. Wish I hadn't broken that albun when I got rid of all my "sinful" music.

I'm a newbie and I don't really know anyone yet, but can I play?

How about.....

Every breath you take and every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take
I'll be watchin' you

Every single day and every word you say
Every game you play, every night you stay
I'll be watchin' you
- - -Sting, "Every Breath You Take"

I've never been a lurker, I'm a poster, that's just the way I am. I love to read everything in a forum though, thus the song............

Janice

wow! "I am a Rock!" Forgot about that one. Now you have me started on Simon & Garfunkel

I am a Rock

A winter's day
In a deep and dark December
I am alone
Gazing from my window
To the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow

I am a rock
I am an island

I've built walls
A fortress deep and mighty
That none may penetrate
I have no need for friendship
Friendship causes pain
It's laughter and it's loving I disdain.

I am a rock
I am an island

Don't talk of love
Well, I've heard the word before
It's sleeping in my memory
I won't disturb the slumber
Of feelings that have died
If I'd never loved,
I never would have cried

I am a rock
I am an island

I have my books
And my poetry to protect me
I am shielded in my armor
Hiding in my room
Safe within my womb
I touch no-one and no-one touches me

I am a rock
I am an island
And the rock feels no pain
And an island never cries

I think all of us would like to think of ouselves as "rocks" huh? Guess that what happens when you've been hurt and abused like so many of us.

To Kerrin, Michael, Robert, Jerry, Theo, and the rest of my forum family...this is my song to all of you:

Bridge Over Troubled Water

When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all

I'm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on Silver Girl,
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

Michael & Robert:

"The Boxer"

I am just a poor boy and my story's seldom told
I've squandered my resistance for a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises
All lies and jest, still the man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest, hmmmm

When I left my home and my family, I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station, runnin' scared
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters, where the ragged people go
Looking for the places only they would know

Li la li...

Asking only workman's wages, I come lookin' for a job, but I get no offers
Just a comeon from the whores on 7th Avenue
I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there

Now the years are rolling by me, they are rockin' even me
I am older than I once was, and younger than I'll be, that's not unusual
No it isn't strange, after changes upon changes, we are more or less the same
After changes we are more or less the same

Li la li...

And I'm laying out my winter clothes, wishing I was gone, goin' home
Where the New York City winters aren't bleedin' me, leadin' me to go home

In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him
'Til he cried out in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains
Yes he still remains

Li la li...

My kids would probably pick this one for me. :D It probably doesn't help that I watch 21 Jump Street on DVD. ;)

Since Bruce Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that shes uncool
'Cause she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Woo Hoo Hooooo!
(1985)
Woo Hoo Hooooo!

She’s seen all the classics
She knows every line
Breakfast Club
, Pretty In Pink
Even St. Elmo's Fire
She rocked out to Wham!
Not a big Limp Bizkit fan
Thought she'd get a hand
On a member of Duran Duran

Where's the mini-skirt made of snakeskin?
And who's the other guy that's singing in Van Halen?
When did reality become T.V.?
What ever happened to sitcoms, game shows or on
the radio was?Springsteen, Madonna
way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that shes uncool
'Cause she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19, 1985

Janice,

Desperado is my favorite of all songs.

But the one that I keep singing in my head since I was very young is,

ooo ooo child, things are gonna get easier.... ooo ooo child, things are gonna get brighter....

don't know the rest, but that is what I sing over and over again.

Hi guys - my first post... :)

Here's another oldie:

Carly Simon - "Let the river run"

A few lines -

Let the river run
Let all the dreamers wake the nations
Come, the New Jerusalem (Us, the Body of Christ!)

Silver cities rise
The morning lights the streeets that lead them
And (angels) call them on with a song.

We're asking for the taking,
Trembling, shaking
Oh, my heart is aching

We're coming to the edge
Running on the water
Running through the fog
Your sons and daughters... Etc.

A little explanation/intro of me - I'm recovering from several things...
On my way up to a seminar on spiritual healing (I REALLY checked it out before I went, and sure enough received amazing deliverance) - I played an old CD I had with the above song on it a lot; got so blessed. ('Course I sang at the top of my lungs at certain points... :o :D )

Bye for now, Annio

The Logical Song...... Supertramp...... I wont post the whole song but the chorus speaks volumes to me of how I feel when everything seems to be closing in

There are times when all the worlds asleep the questions run too deep for
such a simple man....... could you please please tell me what weve learned
I know it sounds absurd please tell me who I am
who iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm whoa :)

A song called Wildfire hits me deep not sure who sings it and No Rain
by Blind Melon the video really illuminates the meaning of the song a lil
bumblebee girl feels like a kisfit rejected and totally alone and out of place
until...... she comes across a whole field full of other bees and realizes shes
not alone not a total misfit oh does that resonate to teenage years

Heres one that fits,I can't believe this didn't come to mind before.Song by Don McLeen
Starry
Starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
look out on a summers day
with eyes that know the
darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
sketch the trees and daffodils
catch the breeze and winter chills
in colors on the snowy linen land
And now I understand what you tried to say to me
how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free
They would not listen
they did not know how
perhaps they'll listen now

Starry
starry night
flaming flowers that brightly blaze
swirriling clouds in violet haze
reflect in vincents eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
morning fields of amber grain
weathered faces lined in pain
are soothed beneath the artists loving hand
And now I understand what you tried to say to me
how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free
perhaps they'll listen now
For they could not love you
but still your love was true

and when no hope was left in sight on that starry starry night
You took your life
as lovers often do
But I could have told you Vincent
this world was never ment for someone
as beautiful as you

Starry starry night
portraits hung in empty halls
frameless heads on nameless walls with eyes
that watch the world and can't forget
Like the stranger that you've met
the ragged men in ragged clothes
the silver thorn of bloody rose
lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow
And now I think I know what you tried to say to me
how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free
They would not listen
they're not listening still,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,perhaps they never will
