Hi,

I'm a "new oldie". I use to post here the first year or so that the board existed. I haven't read here for quite awhile now, though. I had experienced significant spiritual abuse previous to coming here originally but have had a lot of healing since then.

I came back with a specific purpose in mind. God used "Tired of Trying to Measure Up" to begin a lot of healing in me. But I think I am an especially slow learner in keeping all those truths straight (i.e. in the second half of the book). Part of that slowness is due to my struggle with fibromyalgia - the physical discomfort and fatigue play a lot of games with my concentration and memory. (I guess the "plus" side of having fibromyalgia, if there is one, is that you sure find out how much you can't rely on your own self effort!).

I have found that getting truth straight is especially healing to me. However, I also run into all the ways Christians (not necessarily abusive ones) "mis-tweak" (my new word  ) the basic truths about our identity in Christ. It can really get confusing at times.

Is this a place where others would want to work through the truths in that book (especially the second half) along with me? Or would that be a triggering thing for others here? Or maybe someone here knows of another board or place I could do that?

Workwise, at least part time, I write Christian curriculum for kids/youth. I very much want to get these truths straight in my life so that they are clear in my writing as well.

Thanks for considering this - and letting me know what may work/not work here.

I can't speak for others, but not me. Thanks anyway.

Good luck with your endeavors,

jane :)

Hi Leb,

It may be a bit touchy to do that on the board, but I'd be interested in a discussion. I found that book enormously helpful and it could be absolutely instrumental in helping me get through a tough time right now.

:)

I wonder if there would be interest on the NACR side of the board. I have never read that particular book, but it sounds very interesting.

Welcome back Leb! I hope you find the forum much safer and more enjoyable than the old "fight forum" used to be. I sure have!

Welcome back leb! It sounds an awful lot like a "Bible Study" thing to me.
If that's the case I want no parts of it.

There's a message board on my site that is little used. You are welcome to go there and post on this topic.

:) Hi there,

Sometimes depending on what is on my plate in life, I am learning that when I get bogged down, I set it aside. My tired mind cannot grasp things, and then later on, for some strange reason, when I'm in a different place, things can begin to make more sense to me. Hope this makes sense.

It is a shot in the dark, and I do not know if this is even an option, is this book you are reading available on tape?

I sure hope that you are getting good treatment for the fibro. I'm amazed that you have the energy to do all that you do. My heart goes out to you.

Hi, Autumn,

I'm not sure right off if there's a taped version of "Tired..." or not. I know he has other teachings on tape, or at least use to. Let me check (going over to http://www.innervention.com/catalog/). Hmmm. I don't see that exact title, but there's other titles there that probably relate to it ....

You remind me a bit of my mind on a day the fibromyalgia gives me "fibro fog". Some days I understand a lot, other days I feel like I forgot all I use to know. As for me having energy ... I may sound like I can do more than I can. Some days I feel closer to "normal" than others. I just keep on keeping on the best I know how. But God's speaking a lot about "rest" lately. The other day, everywhere I went on the net seemed to have the verse " Come unto me all you who labor and are heavy laden..." After the fourth or fifth time I kinda thought Someone was trying to tell me something .... sometimes I need it in "neon light" form, you know?

Thanks for your post :).

Hi, all,

Thanks so much for all your posts. It looks like discussing the book here won't really be the most sensitive thing to do for those that might get triggerd by it. So how about if those interested in the topic private message me? Maybe there will be another way to do it. (Doug, your board might be a possibility - thanks for the offer. Might just wait and see what the interest in it ends up being like first).

This is looking like a great new set up here. Feels calmer too....

"Tired ...." is a very special book to me..i've sent u a private post. A powerful book for those of us abused by the "Word of God".
