This site called Landover Baptist Church (http://www.landoverbaptist.org/) may be offensive to some of you, so don't say I didn't warn you.

It satirizes conservative Christians and their sub-culture. What is quite impressive is how familiar the site authors are with the fundamentalist/evangelical subculture and its quirks. They have to be ex-fundamentalists who were once steaped in the church. And it gets updated very often. I guess we Christians supply them with endless material.

Addendum -

As offensive as some of the contents of the site are, what I appreciate is the satirization of commercialized Christianity.

The Word has been thoroughly merchandized and the whole Christian business enterprise has become huge over the years. Didn't Jesus grab a whip and chase out the merchants and money changers?

The site is pretty offensive , but I also get what its trying to say..could that offensiveness be really how God feels about it? Couod it be a taste to our sensibilities of how pus filled and rank and stinking it is to God's ears and nostrils, that He is misrepresented so badly because of the CULTURE that pervades?

It is a harsh site, but in many ways, it gets the point across, although I would be careful who I recommended the site to... :)

Interesting. I tried to access the site from work, and Big Brother blocked it. It was deemed inappropriate or something.

In His Grace,

Michael, I promise you that it is not pornographic.

Blake, that is an interesting point you raise. Thanks. I hope you weren't too offended. :)

No, it is a parody.

At first I thought so too, but it became clear to me that it was a parody. Notice there is no physical address to the church.

You mean there are real churches out there like that?

:D Well I was reading that site real late one night when I couldn"t sleep. That is why I shouted at myself in the post. :D Because I thought it was real. I hope there isn"t a real one out there.Thinking that was real was bad enough. butterfly

:) hi there fellow satirist.

Satire is seditious stuff, it gets the point across with humor.
I thank you for finding this. Satire expresses truth, to be able to laugh at oneself is a pure joy.

Life is too mysterious to take it serious.
Laughing, I have learned relieves the pain of grief as well as tears. I learned that in my anger management group. I have a hard time crying, but I can sure laugh.

I know and I've said it before, I have way too much gallows humor for anyone person to have.

With all of the mega churches processing people through, my heart goes out to all of those who have tried so very hard to get into the core and to be cast out I always wonder how they re doing afterwards.

thanks for the laughs. From an ex pharisee. take care and be welll, autumn
