It's my pleasure and honor to announce that my oldest daughter delivered a healthy baby boy this morning at 6:04 AM. He's 8 lbs. 3 oz. and they're gonna call him Sam.

I am so happy for you! Is this your first grandchild?

We were going to name our son Caleb, Sammuel and then changed our minds.

P.S. My favorite uncle was named "Samuel." As a business man, he also had his name shortened to "Sam" but -- with my Grandmother's traditional outlook, she always insisted on the full "handle" and so that's always what seemed most "natural" to me. At one point, he gave us permission to call him "Sam" as well, but I told him he'd been "Samuel" too long for me to change!

So...just curious...is the given name "Samuel" with "Sam" as the nickname or is "Sam" the name on the birth certificate? In either case...from my perspective, it's a GOOD name! Again...Thanks for sharing the news. Congratulations!

My grandson's given name is Samuel Jonathan. They've known for most of the pregnancy that they were having a boy, so they have been calling him Sam or Sammy.

They lived very far away from the time my first grandchild was 8 months old, until recently. I've missed most of the babyhood of most of my grandchildren. :(

All of my family relationship are very very strained at the moment, but we are in contact. :o
