Just a quick acknowledgement of having scanned the thread which jjc began re sexual abuse in the church. My heart goes out to you, jjc and Kerrin, and I appreciated the reassurances which Prof. Nachos and Blake offered.

You've given me much to think about and I appreciate your courage in posting.

Know that you will be in my prayers, as you continue to heal from these difficult times, jjc, Kerrin and Jane...and that I am thankful for the responses you've had which helped to articulate some of my own feelings.

Grace and peace to you and yours this day.

Theodora

Thanks and jjc, hanging in there. Spiritual abuse alone is difficult enough to overcome, but coupling that with sexual abuse must have made it exponentially more difficult.

Unfortunatly, you are right.

Then add more rejection and more shame on top of that! :o

It seems , in a lifelong quest to please an unpleasable God ( a man), who' s representatives abuse women , then layer it with more rejection only compounds the process of forgiveness!

I've said it before; To those women who are married to their 'best friend' and who claim to know acceptance by a male , any male in their life............I envy you, and I pray you cherish what you have!

Women are, I've discovered even more harsh on one another, especially where abuse is involved and I find it is becoming more complicated to trust males or females, as I have been consistantly abused by EVERY male in my life and a LOT of women love to jump on that bandwagon and abuse me as well! :(

( I've seen it happen here!)

There she goes "Jezebell"!
That is all I hear ringing in my ears!

When are those women our there who have the support of a man (any man), going to cut us some slack ?
Sometimes the women are just as abusive as the men!
(by ignoring and being silent , to me, only condones MORE abuse!)

Hurting much lately over this.

My opinion only...

When God created humans, He created both man and woman IN HIS IMAGE... that implies (to me anyway) that God has in Himself both male and female - as He is Spirit, and there are aspects of His nature that are incomprehensible, I accept that. I also accept that in presenting Himself to mankind in a comprehendable way, He had to choose a representative gender. For reasons only known to Himself, He chose to appear to us as male - and to send His Son as a male. But that does not erase Genesis. Women are still created in the image of God, no matter what twisted ideas His people choose to follow.

I had a more vitriolic response to this written out last night, but the Lord saw fit to cause my internet dial up to drop just before I posted it. Probably for the best. :o

...can you begin to "re-frame" those "old tapes?" You are NOT what you have been labeled in the past....I won't deign to give it voice again! Even if you were...which I DOUBT...you are ALSO a caring, generous, warm, HURTING individual who is deserving of compassion and love...and I have recent "proof" in that wonderful care package you sent me! So THERE!

Now....stop beating yourself up, "mate!"

Much love and many prayers--

Theodora

Kerrin, I hope I've not said anything to add to your abuse! I also hope I haven't been silent when you needed someone to talk! Admittedly I get behind from time to time on here, and don't get all the threads read! Especially on this forum (I tend to post more on NACR)! But my heart goes out to anyone who's life has been torn apart by abuse!

Whenever you hear the "Jezebel" ringing in your ears, try to answer it back with "Priscilla"! That's the name I think works well with what I've seen of you here (Do a search in the Bible to find her name... Notice what Paul thinks of her) Especially Romans 16:3-4 & Acts 18:24-28!

No, NO ,and No!

It's all, I beleive in God's timing.........no-one has 'hurt' me here.
I ache at how women are abused and men get away with it.
I ache at the silence and the way we are 'silenced"........and my inference to other women 'abusing' was me re-calling the married women of my church and the way they treated me, (and some other instances I won't go into here),..........with disgust, as if I were a second class citizen, smugly, as if I were a prostitute ,I guess! They would hide behind their husbands smugly as if to rub more salt into the shameful wound of my being divorced and my (supposed) lies about sexual abuse!

It seemed the more pain I was in , the more they 'smiled' sideways at me.

I smiled at you bringing up 'Pricsilla'.
(I certainly will revisit those scriptures!); but I am a huge Elvis fan and when she , (Priscilla Presley), came to Melbourne I was so distraught because I missed out on 'meeting' her by 20 minutes! :( :p

I admire the strength and tenacity of that woman so much.

All of this gives me more to take to counselling I guess; it seems like the "process" is speeding up. Maybe it is too fast and I need to slow it down as Theodora suggested.
I feel too sad and insecure and vulnerable to trust much of my instincts at the moment.

SO: I am glad that YOU ,Mirror and jcc started this dialogue........it's what healing is about isn't it?
Keep posting ,it may not seem like it but you are helping me to 'heal', and know I'm not alone! :o

I pray that in "talking" it through that you also receive something! :o

You're welcome--thanks for participating--it helped me, too.
Jesus likes to bring things into the light, even when we would like to keep them buried in the back of the closet. Then He can begin to work on us. So, yes, talking it through helps a lot.

I know these ladies!!! I could probably identify them down to the exact personality! Nothing brings up my "unChristian" attitude faster than these little biddies who look down their noses at those they consider "unworthy sinners", then quickly run home to call their friends and gossip about us! Of course, in their minds, gossip isn't the word for it, because if they gossip, they're sinning (albeit a minor sin compared to what they figure we've done, but a sin, none the less)! No, the word gossip only works for those who gossip about THEM! THEY are simply informing someone else, giving "facts", passing on a "prayer request", and "warning others" about those of us who are so wicked.

(I'm not bitter! I'm not bitter! I'm not bitter! :p )

I hope you are able to find out what to do to help you get through this right now!

I sure do! Although sometimes I think I'm taking over and talking about me instead of helping someone else! I usually avoid it everywhere else but here! I don't like the focus to be on me, and I don't like to sound like a complainer! Even when I go to my chiropractor appointment once a month, though I've been in lots of pain during the previous month, I don't admit it because I don't want to be shrugged off as a complainer who never has a good month! How stupid is that? I even convince myself I'll tell him about all the pain I've been in, but when it comes down to him asking me, about all I'll say is, "Well, it's been hurting a bit in here (pointing out the general area)". Grrrrr!

If I ever take over a subject and make it about me, just tell me "Shut up, mirror!" :D
