Thanks, Michael, for your query about how this forum benefits people and all who took the time to respond---you've given me much to think about. Thanks, Voyager, for yet another thoughtful post out of your experience....and again, thanks to those who offered corroboration of that post in their own experience. Thanks, Blake, for keeping in touch with us in the aftermath of the horrible events in London and for letting us know about your possibly having found a new church. Thanks, Kerrin, for offering perspective "from afar" and continuing to post even when it must have been difficult to do so. As I told Blake when he first arrived here, I do think that it's important that we ALSO be aware of how our cultural biases may affect our religious/spiritual experiences. It's something which really piques my interest!

Well....I'm just "here" at the moment to allow my back to stop protesting a bit before I go try, try again to "clear the decks" and make the house at least semi-presentable. Late yesterday afternoon, a dear friend of ours called and announced that he and his wife would be staying overnight in our city and would like to see us. Of COURSE!!! WONDERFUL!!!...and this is SUCH a blessing, since we've not been able to see them in quite some time and, since I'm relatively homebound of late and not traveling, we would have no idea when we might ourselves be able to travel to visit them. (They only live about 3 hours away from us, but.....that's far enough that we need to really plan ahead.) These friends have BEEN our friends--true friends/"extended family" since we were in college at the same time....won't confess how long ago that has been, but it's been an AGE and a half!. They're also our sons' godparents.

In any case, obviously I can't "stand on ceremony" ---but, it IS embarrassing to be in the middle of such a muddle!!! I KNOW they won't "judge" me for this....and, knowing how I would react and knowing me to be ill, they probably deliberately didn't give me more advance notice so that I COULDN'T "stew" about things. Still...given the rarity of our visits, one would like to maximize what there IS of the time given to us.

So.....balancing doing what I can do "in the cause" versus "conserving energy" so that I will be able to maintain some semblance of conversation with them. Sigh!!! As I've quoted before here recently---I think---in Kermit the frog's words: "It's not easy being green!"

Grace and peace to you all this day. Just wanted you to know that I'm also thinking of you dear folk this day and continue to keep you in prayer as well. Keep up the good work!
