...was one of the hymn tunes used at today's early Mass at my neighborhood R.C. church. I didn't try to get to "my" Episcopal service, since my husband was out of town and I was without a ride.

In any case, a neighbor girl I have known since she was little played an absolutely BEAUTIFUL, heart-rending flute solo/descant with this, (accompanied by the organ) Used as a post-communion offering, it brought me to tears....remembering, cherishing other moments and thinking of the text. What a blessing to have been able to be there!

If interested, the verses for this hymn may be found at http://www.poeticexpressions.co.uk/POEMS/Lord%20of%20all%20hopefulness.htm

The last two verses are.....

Lord of all kindliness, Lord of all grace,
your hands swift to welcome, your arms to embrace,
be there at our homing, and give us, we pray,
your love in our hearts, Lord, at the eve of the day.

Lord of all gentleness, Lord of all calm,
whose voice is contentment, whose presence is balm,
be there at our sleeping, and give us, we pray.
your peace in our hearts, Lord, at the end of the day.

+ + +

Grace and peace to you all----wherever you may be!

Yours in Christ--

Theodora

(Now if I can just remember to "hum" this to myself tonight when I am trying to get to sleep!!! Your continuing prayers for my handling my insomnia problems appreciated!)
